"Me? How?"
"You are the only one the executives of FIRE trust, that we have a chance of convincing of FIRE's true face."
"...You want me to betray FIRE for Bludhood?"
"Yes, exactly. It is the morally correct thing to do, which I'm sure you agree with after hearing what we've just been through."
I shook my head, "But Hoseok-oppa is in danger. You are willing to sacrifice your friend? How are you any better than Yoongi then?"
"We sacrifice people for different purposes. He does it to become more powerful and make more people suffer. I do it for the greater good ultimately." When Namjoon saw that I was still unconvinced, he sighed, "Let's not just stand here. Come on."
He went past me and down the passage. I had no choice but to follow. It sloped downward, showing that we've gone underground. The whole time I walked I was praying that Yoongi would remember Hoseok is my brother and not hurt him.
The ground began to slope up, and soon we reached an exit. It lead to a rural area with some factory buildings that looked to be abandoned. I followed him into one of them. He took out his phone and dialled some number. He then put away he phone and gestured to me, "Come here."
I shook my head and started backing away, "I can just run away now. Why do I have to listen to you?"
"Don't you want to see the true face of FIRE?"
That halted me in my track.
He smiled knowingly and gestured for me to come closer again. I hesitantly took a few steps towards him. When I was close enough, he reached up and undid my necklace, tossing it into a bush nearby.
"Why did you do that?" I asked, touching the now-bared area on my chest that I was so used to having the necklace resting on.
"I know it's a tracking device." He said.
I huffed. Why was I going along with this? I really should take the chance and leg it, but curiosity was driving me to stay here. What was he going to show that would be enough to destroy my loyalty towards FIRE? If Taehyung had been reporting to him about me then he should know that people from FIRE had saved me multiple times, whether my life or in other aspects.
"Also," Kim Namjoon said. "Has Taehyung betrayed me?"
I looked up in shock. How did he know? "Why would you think that? Yoongi only knew where I was because of the necklace."
"Why are you defending him?"
"Because I genuinely sees him as my friend."
"Then why aren't you worried about him now?"
"What?" I looked at the man in the wheelchair in confusion.
"Just now when we were separated from the rest after going into the secret passage, you were worried about your brother being left alone with people from FIRE, and how they might hurt him. Why weren't you worried for Taehyung? After all, they should know that he is the one who handed you to me, and that he is a spy."
I was speechless. How the hell did Kim Namjoon noticed such a small thing, then make the correct deduction from it? Just how clever was this guy? He also really did have a way with his words. Was that how he was able to become the leader of a gang despite of his disability?
I saw him sighing, a pained expression on his face. "Can you tell me why he betrayed me? I saw him as my family."
"...Then why did you force him to train all the time?"
"Because it is what's best for him. If he wants to survive he needs to be skilled."
"Have you ever realised that might not be what he wants?"
"He might not want to train but I-
"No, not just training," I interrupted him. "This whole gang thing, this whole underworld life."
"What?"
"You just forced him into this without asking if he wants to."
"But I took him away from the horrible orphanage, I helped him."
I huffed, "And that makes you have the right to decide his future?"
Namjoon was silent.
I remembered what Taehyung told me in the car, and continued, "Do you know what he likes doing the most?"
Namjoon shrugged, "Socialising, maybe."
"See, that your problem. You just assume things for him and you don't actually try to understand what he wants for himself."
Namjoon looked down with furrowed brows. "...Then what does he like doing?"
"He likes the computer and programming and whatever you do on it." I replied.
"I thought... I thought that was just his hobby."
"Exactly that. You don't actually know what he wants."
"But I treated him as family."
I sighed, "From what I've heard, I get the sense that you treat him like your son. But I think Taehyung would rather you have treated him like a friend, like someone that's equal, not some younger kid that needs guidance."
This time it was his turn to sigh. "I didn't know."
The sound of a car arriving could be heard. Soon a black car drove into the yard between the buildings and Namjoon approached it. A man got out and helped him into one of the back seats. The man then folded the wheelchairs and stuffed it into the trunk.
"Are you coming?" Namjoon called out. I nodded and got into the other passenger seat. The man renetered the car, and we drove off to wherever Namjoon had in mind.
