The Wolf Inside.

Ch:3

As we sat in the alpha's office, I became extremely nervous to ask him any questions. The alpha looked into my eyes and said, "it's ok, dont be afraid". I looked over at my brother and he nodded. "Go on, ask him your questions. There's no need to be afraid of him sis". I sat there quietly, feeling a bit awkward due to the situation. My brother interrupted by thoughts as he said, "we can both read your mind. Just ask him your questions".

I looked back at the alpha and asked, "what's your name"? He smiled and said, "I'm Reedus". His kindness made my confidence grow slightly, so I asked," whats going to happen to me tonight?". Reedus smiled more and said, "you will transform my dear". I got scared which caused my heart to race. As the fear grew, I asked, "will it hurt"? He sat there for a minute to think of something to say. His reluctance to answer the question made my anxiety spike. After some time, he spoke lightly saying, "it will hurt your first time". My heart started beating even faster so my brother said, "calm down Shelby. I can hear your heart beat from over here". I tried to calm down so I took a deep breath. My fear took over so I frowned and said, "I don't want to transform tonight. I don't want to be put through any pain!".

Reedus stood up and said, "my dear, having the ability to shapeshift is a gift. You have been passed down the wolf gene and you need to embrace it"! I asked, "who was howling this morning"? Reedus smiled with pride and said, "that was me"! Questions started to form in my mind so I asked, "So only other wolves can hear the howls?". Reedus smiled and said, "exactly".

No wonder those kids at my bus stop couldnt hear it. I looked over at my brother then back at Reedus and asked, "how could my brother hear my heartbeat and thoughts"? Reedus smiled and said "well my dear, us wolves have heightened sences. We can hear 1000 times better than a human, see 1000 times better than a human, and we can smell 1000 times better than a human. Also, us wolves have a special power. We can link to eachothers minds to hear what we are thinking. This power helps us if we are up against an enemy".

I smiled at his enthusiasm for answering my questions. I grew confused because I couldn't hear their thoughts so I said, "well I cant hear your thoughts or my brothers". My brother opened his mouth and said, "in order for you to hear us you need to have transformed into a wolf at least once". Well that's bullshit. They could be talking about me right now and I wouldn't even know. Reedus smiled and said "yes, what your brother said". Thinking back to them in wolf form at the rock, I asked "well do you know what color my wolf is"? Reedus smiled and said, "no, but we will find out tonight".

Brad looked at me and said, "the 3 common colors are brown, grey, and white. The rare fur color is black and if you're black that means you are an alpha or a luna". I asked, "what's a luna"? Brad was about to speak, but Reedus cut in. "A luna is one of the most important members of the pack. It is a female wolf. She is the alphas mate and is very strong and powerful. She also cares for the other mothers and children in the pack.". I did t see any women at the rock so I asked, "well if there is no other women in the pack does that make me the luna"? Reedus laughed slightly at my eagerness then said, "no, you have to have it passed down to you through blood and genes".

Before anybody could say another word, we heard a wolf howl so we all got up and ran outside. I asked Brad, "what the fuck is going on?". He guarded me and said, "vampires are in the area". I looked up at the sky and asked, "where are they"? He looked at me then pushed me out of the way. I seen a bright flash of light and he quickly shapeshifted into a scary white furred werewolf and mauled a vampire that was running to get me. While in his wolf form he growled at me and howled. I coundnt believe it, but I heard words in the howl. Not all the words were clear, some were mumbled, but what I heard from my brother was "follow....come....cabin". So I connected the words together and followed him back to the cabin.

When I walked into the cabin, he shut the door behind me still in wolf form. He walked over behind the desk and transformed back. This time he stayed behind the desk and asked, "can you go over there to the dresser and hand me some boxers and pants?". I laughed and asked, "why are you naked"? He smiled and said "when you transform you rip and tear your clothes". While I handed him a pair of boxers and pants, I said "no wonder you went to the mall like every saturday to buy new clothes. It makes a lot of sense now".

We could hear screams and howls outside so my brother walked over to me and told me to go hide under the desk. I did what I was told and hid under the desk. He stood by the door ready to defend me if a vampire tried to come in.

I love my brother and wouldnt know what I would do without him. Ever since my mom and dad died, it's just been me and my brother. I think of my mom and dad from time to time, but try not to think about them because it just makes me sad. I snapped out of my thought when the door broke off the hinges and flew across the room smashing into little pieces once it hit the wall on the other side of the room.
