"An Assignment (?)"
"I read a journal. I mean, my journal,"
"What does it say inside?" Lance asks me without revealing his current emotions.
"Gibberish," I earn a chuckle from Lance.
"You were the one who wrote it,"
"Yeah but I never thought that..."
"What is it?"
I fidget around because I feel unsure whether to tell him or not.
"It's fine if you don't feel like telling me," He says kindly.
"It's just... How can you love someone who denies you so much to the point that you're breaking yourself just to grab his attention?" I ask faintly.
"Well, there are many forms of love. Some love helps build you up while others, destroy you slowly. You must know when to walk away,"
"Do you love someone?" He asks.
I shake my head.
"I don't know if I am capable of love," I bit my lips when I realised I spoke out loud.
"Why do you think so?"
"I don't know... I'm not worthy of anyone's love,"
"Why do you say that?"
"I'm tainted..." I say in an almost whisper volume.
"Do you love your parents?" He asks and I nod.
"Do you love Abby?" He asks again and I nod once more.
"Do you think your parents love you?" He questions and I lift my head to look at him. My brows knit together as I wonder the answer.
"I... I honestly don't know," I reply truthfully.
"What about your friend, Abby?"
I ponder the question for a moment then let out a small laugh as I remember her annoying affectionate gesture. She often tells me she loves me and cares a whole lot about me.
"Yeah. She does," I chuckle a little more.
"Why do you don't you know if your parents love you but you don't hesitate to answer when I asked if Abby loves you or not," Lance looks at me with a neutral expression.
"It's because of her body language and she doesn't hesitate to tell me," I answer without difficulty.
"I want you to do something before our next session starts," He says and I turn my gaze to meet his. I nod my head with uncertainty.
"Spend some time with your parents and maybe tell them how you feel about them. Afterwards, tell me about it," He says casually.
"Uh-H- How?" I ask since I still feel awkward around them.
"Why don't you ask Abby that and maybe the two of you could plan it together,"
I nod my head as I try to figure out what I can do with them.
"Well, then. Let us end the session here for now. I'll see you in the next one," Lance gives me a smile as he opens the door.
I walk out the door while giving him a sheepish smile.
Abby greets me cheerfully as she jumps up of the sofa she's sitting on.
"How was it?" She asks.
"It was good," I receive an understanding nod from Abby.
We walk out of the building and enter the car that is waiting for us. Today, a driver is sending us home rather than my father. He seems to be busy lately so he couldn't pick us up. He did claim that he wanted to but, him driving is actually a rare occasion.
