Hey Guys!

DOUBLE UPDATE!

I may even do a triple because I had no idea how far behind you guys were until like just now. Um, I promise my writing gets so much better.. Uh, yeah so I feel bad because while I was in Los Angeles, I didn't update--my laptop stayed at home and I did not-- so I hadn't realized that you guys were as far back as you actually are. You probably think this story sucks apples and banana's. Whoopss...

Sorry for the long ass rant..

Chapter Sixteen

I run a hand through my hair and stand from my seat. I begin to pace on the wooden floorboards. I don't know what to even think right now.

I hear the the lock of the front door turning, followed by the sound of Harry's laughter tinkling through the air. I hear Wynne say something to him, sparking laughter again. He walks into the kitchen-- Wyn in his left arm, Darcy in his right-- with a pink, sparkly back pack slung over his shoulder.

I stop my pacing to speak to him. "You're home early?"

"Lunch break." He says. I nod "How was school?"

"It was fine." He puts Wyn on the ground, she immediately runs over to me. Her small arms clutching my calf for dear life, I simply smile.

"Do you want me to take them back after my break or.?." He says, it comes off as more of a question though.

"Um, no. I'll watch them."

"Harry?" I ask hesitantly.

"Yeah..?" He says, taking out ingedients to make himself a sandwhich.

"Umm.." I try to think of a subtle way to ask him about the newspaper . Okay, I don't just want to up and ask him. What person honestly can go up to someone and spring the topic of them being in a gang on them. I can't begin to imagine what total shit I'll feel like if I'm wrong.

"Uh.. how was work?" I say. I hope he doesn't realize that I'm totally beating around the bush.

"It was fine.. Are you okay?"

"Uh.. yeah. Just uh.. a-a lot of homework. Like a shit load I swear."

"Alright..." He says, turning back and facing me. One eyebrow is raised--slightly lifting his hair line at an awkward angle--as if he knows that I'm lying and he just hasn't discovered what about. Yet.

"Daddy, can me and Wyn go play?" Darcy murmurs from her spot on the floor.

"Sure. Don't make a mess though okay?"

Darcy nods and the two of them rush down the hall. I can hear their clumsy, muffled footsteps on the stairs as they rush to an unknown destination. What I would give to be a child again. Days and nights filled with guileless splendor. However, my childhood was cut short, taken from me. The task of caring for a child thrown into my mutilated, lackluster hands. My naivete overshadowing my common sense. The love i had always longed for over powering any reasoning I once had.

Reasoning I need so desperately now.

I stare at Harry as he basks in the glory of his sand which. Savoring it like it'll be his last. Perhaps it will be once I'm finished with him.
