Chapter Thirteen

Cadence's Point of View

When I wake up from the buzzing of my phone, I feel as if I'm being relieved of the nightmare dreamless sleep provides. The stark blackness of sleep like a double edged sword; my swift savior and my cunning worst enemy. Blindly, I reach for my phone and swipe it to answer.

"Hello?" I say, sleep muffling my words.

"Cade! What the hell?!" I hear

"Um..who is this? I'm still asleep.."

"Ugghh!! Cade, it's Zaina!"

"Oh! Hi."

"Cadence! What the fuck! Hi? Oh hell no!--"

"Hey Zaina, not to be rude...but is there a reason why your calling me at.." I turn to look at the dormant alarm on my night stand, " 6 in the morning? On a tuesday?" I ask her.

"Oh...is it really that early?"

"Yeah.."

"Oh."

"Yeah."

"Oh"

"Zaina..."

"Right! What the hell? I heard you left work early yesterday? Is everything alright?"

"Yeah, everything's fine. My brother called me all frantic and what not, but in the end it was just some bull shit that I really could care less about."

"Oh.. how is your brother anyway? What's the whole story on him?"

"Oh jeez, Zaina. I don't even know.. My mom always told me that he was my half brother but--"

"Hah! Bull. Shit." She says to me. "You two could be twins!"

"Yeah, yeah. I know.. but he's never treated me like a sister. I feel like we're just friends Zaina. I really do. He never tells me anything."

"Aww..baby.. Maybe he's still getting used to you? I mean finding out you have a sister after what? Twenty years of just being an only child? And having her show up on your doorstep? That's gotta be difficult."

"But see, that's the thing Zaina. He always knew about me. He knew where I lived, that's why I came to him in the first place. We--well I may have left a part out of the story.."

"What! Spill!"

"Er..we may have been in contact before I moved here..."

"What!!! So you mean you and Niall were chat buddies before you came out here to England?" She asks.

"Well...kind of. I only came to him because I knew he was here...that he was real. I left home because of him Zaina, because he told me to think about Wynne's future."

"Awwwww!!! That's so cute! And kind of hot....makes me see your brother in a much more attractive way.."

"Zaina! Ew!"

"HA! I mean it though.." She says. I hear some shuffling in the background. I wonder what she's up to..

"Who's that?" I hear a voice call from the other line. A much deeper voice.

"It's Cade." Zaina replies.

"Oh." It says again.

"Zaina...." I say.

"Yeah?"

"You are so screwed.."

"I was..."

"Zaina, I certainly hope it's not Perry you're sleeping with.."

"It is!" Perry shouts from the other line. My eyebrows raise in response and as if she can see me she pesponds.

"No worries, love. I'm at his place."

"Well I figured that....but still."

"Nope. Me and the Father from Hell fell out last night. I stormed off, he knew exactly where I was going. Maybe this time he'll think before saying something dumb."

"You're using your boyfriend to spite your father? Somehow I don't feel like that's fair.."

"Hey, you don't here me complaining!" Perry says.

"Yeah well you probably got laid last night, so I don't blame you."

"I did. So many times--" He begins.

"Okay, okay. I get it!"

"S'what you get sweetheart." Zaina says with a laugh.

"Yeah. I got that now."

"HA!"

"Yeah, yeah."

"Alright love. I'm gonna let you go. You probably want to get your beauty rest. Do you have Uni today?"

"Yeah."

"Alright well, I may see you later."

"Kay.. Bye."

"Bye" She says, dragging out the 'E' before getting cut off by a squeal. I hung up before I end up hearing more of that er.."conversation". Those horny bastards, I swear.
