-Rebecca's p.o.v.-

I sent CJ that text and set my phone down and waited for a response I knew I probably wasn't gonna get. To my surprise she answered rather quickly.

To Rebecca: yeah. What's up ?

To CJ: wanna go out?

To Rebecca: ...depends. Where at?

To CJ: somewhere fun. Be ready and be prepared to get wet. I'll be at ur window in 20.

To Rebecca: wHat??! Get wet?? It's cold outside ??? I'm not crazy.

To CJ: wear a long sleeve for all I care just be ready. I'll be omw soon.

I sent the final text and got ready quickly. I got some shoes and snuck out my window. My house was two stories tall, but the part of the roof that went up to my window hung over the porch in the front yard and wasn't that high up, so jumping that was no issue. I got in my car and started it and was off. My car wasn't that loud, thank goodness, so I was able to sneak off without anyone being the wiser. I drove to CJ's house and parked across the street and walked up to her house. There was a pipe that ran up the side of her house and it went past her bathroom window. I climbed up the pipe (which was quite easy since her house had good grip on my shoes) and I climbed in her window. She left the window open for me and I climbed inside. I walked into her bedroom to see her sitting on her bed on her phone in a loose long sleeve shirt and yoga pants. I tapped on her wall lightly startling her, but she giggled after she realised it was me. We climbed down the pipe and walked to my car and quickly got inside. It wasn't that cold tonight I was surprised. Once I started my car CJ asked where we were going.

"One of my favourite places." I responded as I drove us to the park. She probably couldn't tell what it was since it was so dark, but I turned my phones flashlight on and led her to the lake. I took my shoes off on the shore and explained what we'd be doing.

"You're crazy." CJ said as she stood on the grass. I rolled my eyes even though I knew she couldn't see it.

"It's fun trust me. Don't be a downer." I said as I walked into the lake fully dressed. I couldn't hear CJ say anything but I heard her walk into the water. I smiled and walked deeper into the water until my lobes of my ears were resting on top of the water. CJ was a bit shorter than me, so she couldn't go as far but she wasn't far behind.

"Rebecca. Are you a good swimmer?" She asked me. Her voice seemed as if it was booming due to the silence of the night, when in reality she was not being loud at all.

"Yes. Why?" I asked.

"I'm not that confident. Can you hold my hand? I don't wanna sound like a dork but I dunno I don't wanna drown." She said. I smiled and walked toward her. I didn't have to go far, she was very close to me.

"Put your hand up. I can't see it." I said and I heard her raise her hand out of the water. I searched for it and eventually found it and squeezed it tightly.

"I won't let go." I assured her. "Don't worry. Nothing's gonna happen." I told her and she squeezed my hand back. That was when I had an idea. Not a good one, but it was an idea I was going to go through with.

"CJ." I said. She hummed out in response. "Do you trust me?" I asked.

"Yes." She said. "Why?" She asked.

"Walk with me." I said as we walked deeper into the water. She followed.

"What are we doing?" I asked. I squeezed her hand.

"Trust me." I said. I stopped and I knew CJ was barely above water. "Lets both go under." I proposed.

"Rebecca. I'm not a great swimmer." She objected.

"I am. Trust me. I have you. I won't let you go." I said and I intertwined my fingers in hers.

"Okay." She agreed.

"On three." I said. "Ready?" I asked.

"Yes." She said.

"One." I said as I squeezed her hand once again. "Two. Three." I said quietly as we both went under. CJ was calm. She didn't struggle. I held her hand as I said I would and after a few moments we popped back above the water. We both gasped for air and CJ started laughing, making me laugh.

"That was an incredible feeling. I can't explain it." She said and I nodded my head, once again knowing she couldn't see it but did it anyway.

"I know. It's an amazing yet terrifying feeling. I've still yet to understand it myself." I said. CJ was quiet for a moment.

"We know the water is dangerous. We know the water could take us in a split second. But we test it anyway. Because we want to see how far things can go. And the question of what would happen if we were to step a toe out of line is so... unexplainably fascinating. We want to get a taste of the other side. But cannot, so we see how far we can go before going there. It's instinct." She said and I was speechless. When she explained it, it made so much sense. It was like she had tapped into my mind and put all my feelings on paper into words. I smiled.

"Did I say something wrong?" She asked and I shook my head. She couldn't see anything though.

"No. I'm just surprised. It's like you put my feelings into words like I could never do. You have such a way with words, I can't tell you how much I want to have that ability." I said.

"Haha it's nice at times. I crush English finals, but my mind is an always running mill of words and over analysation. It's hell at times." She explained.

"Yeah." I said quietly. "Tortured soul." I joked. CJ chuckled.

"You could say that." She said. "Let's go back to shore, yeah? It's starting to get colder." CJ says and we walk back together. We grabbed our clothes and went to my car. Once inside, we listened to music for a little while, and around 6am we watched the sun rise from the back of my car whilst wrapped up in a blanket listening to weird mixture of reggae and classical music. It was nice to say the least.
