i did what i was told, i plugged my phones lightening cable into my computer and connected it back to my phone.

the same process happened to my phone that happened to my computer, my phones screen divulged into a red screen, and a loud and teeth grinding static sound roared from my phone.

once that was over, my phone turned back on, and i was instantly receiving a call. there was no caller id, it was almost as if nothing was calling me, though my phone was still ringing and the only option there was, was to accept the call.

and so i did, i hesitantly accepted the call and carefully held the phone up to my ear, in confusion and fear. my voice barely echoing my greeting,

"h-hello?"

there was no response for what seemed like minutes, i was about to hang up the call when all of a sudden and woman's voice came from the other end of the line, scaring me senseless.

"joshua?" the voice asked in disbelief, "can you hear me?"

i couldn't even begin to process let alone comprehend what was going on. i stood there with the phone to my ear for a while, just speechless and in shock.

"y-yeah i can hear you." i managed to let out through my clearly shaken up speech.
"wow...." the voice on the other end of the line exhaled her wording, "i can't believe that worked."

"is this ann?" i quickly questioned the girl.
"huh?" she sounded confused, but quickly added, "o-oh yeah this is ann."

out of the many questions i could've asked, i decided to ask the only question that came out of my mouth,
"how are you real?"

she chuckled, "what kind of question is that?"

"it's just..." i trailed off, my mind not being able to grasp the situation yet, "i thought you were a just computer program for the deep web. how are you real?!"

"i'm a real person, joshua." she confirmed, leaving me confused but again, i had no time to question it, i just went with it.

"well okay, and by the ann, you can just call me josh." i told her.

"okay, josh, and by the way, my name isn't really ann. when you work in the deep web, you need to disguise your name for safety reasons." she explained.

"okay so, what is your name?" i wondered.

"it's ashley." she admitted.
