[this is the last chapter and it's a long one so be prepared (and concerned) -frisk]

we started making our way back to the cars, hoping to find that ashley and tyler were still alright. we pretty much assumed brendon wasn't going to stick around any longer.

as we went down the stairs and sarah ran ahead of us in an attempt to somehow catch brendon, i was still walking with jenna in silence, but that broke when she spoke up randomly.

"h-he didn't mean it," she stuttered her words a bit, "none of us blame you for any of this, not even brendon." she then explained, yet it somehow still didn't make me feel any better.

i sighed, just nodding to give an unconvincing answer of approval. i remembered something my mom had told me when i was younger. she told me to always cherish the kind words said to you, but to never forget what people spill when they're angry.

and boy, was brendon beyond angry.

i blamed myself this whole time, and just hearing that so did brendon, just made me feel a lot worse about everything. he was right, i couldn't save anyone. i was just a burden on everyone, but he was the only one mad enough to admit it.

we finally made it outside the place, only to see that brendons car was gone, and sarah was standing in the middle of the road, looking down the path beyond us.

tyler was vertically propped up onto the hood of his own car, still unconscious, while ashley leaned against it. jenna ran over to finally check on tylers wound thoroughly, while i decided to talk to ashley.

her eyes lit up when she saw me, "hey," her voice softly greeted me, as she pulled me into a hug, "how'd you guys make it out of there?" i could feel my heart drop, and out of impulse i held on to her tighter.

as best i could, i mustered up the courage to whisper, "dallons dead... and it's all my fault." i could feel the tears forming in my eyes, flooding my vision. i could feel her grip on me get tighter before she let go of the hug, to look me in the eye.

"that couldn't have been your fault," she assured me, her voice gentle as she wiped my tears using her thumbs, "raz and his people are insane... don't try and blame yourself for what they did."

her voice was firm, but there was something buried in that tone of hers, it almost sounded like anger? as if she were trying to pinpoint everything on raz, though we still don't know who he is.

or if we ever will know.

i wanted to change the subject, "did you see brendon drive off?" i wondered, she nodded, "yeah, he seemed pissed, but he was on the phone with someone and just... i don't know, from what i heard on his end it was weird."

now i was curious, "what did he say?"

she bit her bottom lip and shook her head, "from what i heard he kept saying something like 'it didn't work, it all went wrong'," she explained, "but i don't know what he was talking about."

jenna looked over at us when she said that, giving us a strange look, so she chimed into the conversation, "who would he be on the phone with?" she kept her voice low, as to not alert sarah.

ashley shrugged, "not sure, but he sounded pretty mad with whoever he was talking to." jenna still looked confused, but nodded and went back to bandaging tylers leg.

the conversation then came to a halt as jenna was finishing up, changing the topic, "ty should be fine now, i got most of the swelling down but his leg is still slightly infected." she explained, "is he gonna be alright?" i wondered.

jenna looked at tyler and then back at me with an unsure look, "we'll find out when he wakes up." was her final answer, but it didn't relieve me in any way.

after that, we noticed sarah turned around and gave us a worried look, "uhhh, guys..." she ran over to where we were standing, "t-this is a one way road, right?"

we all exchanged looks as it was such a weird question, "yeah, it is," jenna answered, "why?" with that, we noticed why she was asking. in the distance, there were 3 cars in line of each other, driving down the road we were supposed to leave on.

jenna's face fell and her skin when sickly pale "g-get ty and the car-- we have to get the hell out of here." she quickly explained, running to the drivers seat of the car.

ashley helped me as best she could get tyler in the back seat, in which sarah helped make space for the three of them. while all of this was happening, jenna tried making a u-turn, only to see there were three more cars coming in from the opposite direction, the way we came from.

now we were surrounded.

my heart was pounding as i was the only one still not in the car yet, as i quickly got into the front passenger seat, i noticed what looked to be the same looking-guys raz was working with exit the car, they had the sane black cloaks and masks and everything.

jenna was about to try and run them over only to see them shooting out our tires. everything from here is a bit hazy in memory. i remember jenna being yanked out of the cars now shattered window, while the same thing was happening to sarah.

ashley had made a run for it in the woods as she was being chased by a bunch of them, leaving us behind. i then recall being pulled out of the car and thrown down onto the gravel road, feeling the tiny rocks pierce my skin.

a bunch of the cloaked figures circled around me, holding their guns and knives in my direction. from there, i could remember seeing a bright light being shined in front of face, and a sharp api. beginning to form in my sides.

and after that, everything was over.
