Adam's POV
Lucy and I snuck out like sneaky sneaky snakes. Yes, I just said the phrase. Then again, I hope you aren't one to judge because if you were judging me than you should be ashamed of what you did. Because if you judge me, you're judging one of the Agency's best Agents. Well, Lucy was good too of course.Once Lucy and I were at the lake, we took a seat under a tree. There, we laid down on our backs and enjoyed the stars which were brightly shining.
"So," I began. "What happened?"
Lucy was silent for a while. Then she sighed deeply. "She... She died."
My eyes grew wide with guilt. "Oh, Lucy...." I said. "I'm sorry. I should've known. Especially since you said that you were now Queen."
Lucy sighed again. This time she turned her head to look at me "No. It's OK. Besides there was no way you could've known about her death. Especially since I thought you were dead."
"Well, I'd like to think of it as common sense."
Lucy giggled a little. "You aren't turning into Lily are you?" She turned her gaze back up to the stars.
I shook my head. "What?! No! Why would I turn into her? I'm not a girl. Nor was I being sassy. Or trying to be for that matter."
Lucy's POV
I looked at Adam again. "Sorry." I said. "I just thought you were, you know."Adam shook his head. "No. I'm not trying to be even with you. And it's OK."
"You know, she hasn't always been like this." I say.
Adam raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"Well, to be honest, Lily's made some friends with girls who are kind of... snobby. And ever since you've left, she's been wanting to try to find someone else to talk to. Now don't get me wrong she loves talking to me. But she just wanted to be with people who were more her age."
Adam nodded. "I understand completely. Now going back to your mother. What are you gonna do?"
"Well, there's this law." I began.
Adam again cut me off. "Um, you have a lot of laws to be honest."
"Yes. But this law is the most important one."
"OK. What is it?"
"So you know how in every fairytale there's the Queen and the King?"
Adam's POV
I frowned. "You aren't gonna say what I think you're gonna say, are you?""Depends." Lucy said. "What do you think I'm gonna say?"
"That you're gonna have to replace me."
Lucy sat up. "Listen Adam, I know this is a bit hard for you. But I don't have a choice. Besides, Jake told me that mom said once she died I needed to find someone suitable."
"Well, why can't you hold a meeting with Congress? Tell them you don't need a husband to help you rule?"
"I have given that idea some thought. But I don't know how I would explain it to them."
"Why not hold it tomorrow? I'll help you!"
Lucy's eyes were full of disbelief. "Adam," she said. "I appreciate the effort. But remember, they still don't know you're alive!"
"I could hide myself. Blend in. They won't suspect a thing!"
Lucy was quiet and she put her focus on the ground.
"Please, Lucy." I said. "I don't want you to... forget me."
Lucy shook her head and moved closer to me. "Adam, I would never forget you. Besides you're my husband. I'll tell you what, I'll arrange a meeting for tomorrow. And while I'm at it, I'll try to find you a suitable disguise so that you can sneak in with me. OK?"
I smiled. "Got it. Thanks Lucy. I always knew I could count on you."
Lucy smiled back. "I just hope your plan doesn't fail."
"When have my plans ever failed?"
"Oh trust me Flames." she said. "There have been times."
