Dangerous Heights

Adam's POV
"Hey slowpokes, you coming?" I call back at Matt and Lily.

"We're coming." Lily says. "Just hold your horses!"

Once the two were walking next to me, I look over at Lily. She seemed to be blushing.

"Lily?" I asked.

"Yeeeaaaaaasssss?"

"Are you OK?"

"I'm as fit as a fiddle, dad!" she said. "Also do you smell that? It smells like... Marigolds."

I was so confused. "Lily, you're starting to creep me out. Please stop."

Lily shook her head. "Er... what now?"

I opened my mouth to speak then I decided not to say it. "Never mind."

"Oh, OK."

We all stopped to be greeted by the old fallen log. Honestly, now that I think about it, I was kind of wanting to turn around. Wait what was I thinking? I couldn't give up now! We must be getting close!

"Christian?" I ask.

Christian turns to face me. "Um, yes?"

"Why did you want to turn around so badly?"

"Well, I've been down here before." Christian explains. "And honestly, this place gives me bad memories."

"You've been here before? How often do you visit?"

"Why are you asking me all these questions Adam?"

"First off, call me Flames. He's Spaghetti Jones, and that's Violet. Besides, we weren't supposed to give out our real names anyway, MATT."

Matt raises an eyebrow. "Adam, what are you doing?"

"I think that there's something Christian isn't explaining to us." I say.

Lily's POV
"Can we just get going?" I ask.

"I agree with Lily." Matt says.

"Alright," dad says. "But I'm gonna keep a close eye on you Christian."

Then we were all walking cautiously on the log.

"From previous experiences," Christian says. "The best thing to do is keep a steady pace with your feet. Also be careful where you step. This log has a few slippery spots."

Dad and Christian were already on the other side. They watched as Matt and I followed behind.

I seemed to take a wrong step. And I feel my legs wobble.

Matt grabs my hand. "Don't worry." he said. "I won't let you go."

As Matt pulls me up, I flash him a smile.

Matt's POV
"You OK?" Adam asked Lily once we were with him and Christian.

"I'm fine dad." Lily says.

"Matt, you're the leader remember?"

I nod. "I haven't forgotten."

Adam and Christian left. I was about to join them but I was pulled back.

Lily gave me a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks Matt." she says.

I blush a bright red. "As I always say. There's nothing that Spaghetti Jones can't do."

Lily giggled. "I guess not."

"Hey, if we find your mother, would you like to... I dunno. Maybe hang out?"

"I'd love to."

"Sweet!"

Just then I feel a vibration in my pocket. I had a strange feeling that it was Clyde. However, I ignored it this time. I had to fix this. I thought.

As I joined Adam, he seemed to be looking directly at me.
"What was that all about?" he asked.

"Huh? What was what about?" I ask.

"Um, I dunno. For starters, let's talk about you and Lily."

"Uh oh. Am I in trouble?"

"What? No! I'm just gonna tell that if you break her heart, you'll have to deal with me. Got it?"

"Got it. Wait. Hold on, how did you know about the whole thing?"

But Adam didn't answer. He just kept on walking.
