Lucy's POV
"Mom?" Lily asked as she put on the guard's outfit. "Why does this thing smell of fish and chips?"

"Ask Jake." I said. "It's his suit."

Lily rolled her eyes at me. "Greaaat. Also another question. Why isn't dad doing this?"

I paused before answering and lowered my head to the ground. "He changed his mind."

Lily raised an eyebrow. "Changed his mind? How?"

I was about to get into detail on how Matt came into the whole thing but I was interrupted by the sound of whistling. It was Clyde.

He stopped whistling to see me and Lily who was now dressed up. He thought it was Jake.

"Hey Jake what's up?" he asked.

Lily's POV
I was so confused yet so attracted to this strapping young lad. "Hehe... hi...."

The man tilted his head in confusion. "Are you OK, Jake?"

I felt my face reddening. "Um..."

Mom saved me from speaking to this guy any further. "He's fine. Just a little sick." Just then I felt a kick to the shin. I tried to keep myself from yelping but the pain was too much.

"OUCH!!!" I exclaimed in a very high pitch voice.

I noticed everyone staring at me. I cleared my throat and spoke in a low voice, trying to both think and speak as if I was Jake. "Er, I mean, yeah." I fake cough. "I'm just a little you know, dry in the throat."

"Do you need me to get a doctor?" the stranger asked.

I shook my head. "No, I'll be fine. Honest."

The young man nodded. "Alright. But if things get out of had, just give your old buddy Clyde a call."

He turned to face my mom.

"Now, your highness, I was wondering if you were free tomorrow."

Lucy's POV
I nearly died at the spot. Was this guy flirting with me?

"I, uh, I guess. But why?"

Clyde didn't answer. Instead he too my hand and handed me a slip of paper. "I think this paper will speak for itself." With that he left with a wink.

To be honest, I guess I did find Clyde to be an attractive young man. But what about Adam?

What about Adam? I thought again. He seems way more interested in his friend Matt than he does me.

I opened my hand to see the paper. It said, "Meet me outside the castle. I'l be waiting for you tonight."

I looked at the note, then at the ring on my finger. It was kind of tarnished. But it was a memoir of the best day of my life. However, Adam seems more happy with Matt. Not in the way you might be thinking of but as good friends. It was as if he threw me under the bus. And it hurt....

Lily looked at me. "What was that all about?"

I didn't answer because I was already heading up the steps to the castle.
