21. Love You

John had gone to work a bit disbelieved from yesterday's events.

Julian had finally told him that he loved him and John finally got someone that he liked in... years.

He couldn't screw this up now. He had known Ringo for almost a year now and having him over was like a breath of fresh air.

John sighed and felt his stomach lurch. He'd only been happy when Ringo came into the picture.

He put down his pencil and dug into his pockets for his phone, he knew Ringo's number by heart now.

"Hey love," Ringo's cheerful voice came through the line and John's heart started to race. "What's the matter? I'm at work y'know."

"Sorry it's just that I need to talk to you," John blushed. "And it's urgent."

"Urgent?" Ringo asked. "You can tell me."

John felt his heart race. Man up or shut up, man up or shut up.

"Yesterday Julian told me he loved me." John smiled.

"Are you serious?" Ringo was in disbelief. "That's incredible babe! I'm so proud of him! I always thought it was super hard for him to get something like that out of his system."

"Ugh you're so fucking great," John sighed. "Which brings me to my next point actually."

"What's wrong hun?" Ringo asked.

"I- god this is so hard to say to you. I-I've been so happy ever since you came into my life and my kids too. Hell, I can't stop thinking about you every day ever since I've met you and it's always gotten me thinking about you. I'll see the sky and I'll think 'hey Ritchie has prettier color in his eyes than the sky' or maybe I'll look at the candy shop that the boys like going to and god I'll just think 'no one is as sweet as my boyfriend' and every time I think of you I just want to smile and grin like an idiot because I'm falling for you so hard and we've almost been together for a year but I feel like I've known you my whole life. And I've lost two people in my life already but god I'm so scared of losing you too.

I think you know what I'm trying to say but gosh Ringo I think I'm falling in love with you. No, I really do think I'm in love with you. I don't know how you may feel about me but I just thought you should know."

John held in his breath. He wasn't saying anything, almost wasn't even breathing.

Ringo coughed into the phone and let out a shaky breath.

"Johnny," it sounded like he was crying. "I fucking love you too y'know. And I'm so pissed at you for making me cry in front of everyone at work right now but I love you baby. You have no idea just how happy you make me feel every time I come over and kiss you, hug you, joke around with you, and just hang out with you in general. I love everything about you and I hope that you know I'm not planning on leaving you any time soon. Okay baby?"

John didn't realize he was tearing up until he felt a tear trickle down his cheeks. So fucking lucky. John couldn't have been so fucking lucky to be experiencing such an overwhelming feeling of love.
