Julian was never really the same after the wedding.
A year later seemed to prove so.
He was thirteen now, and clearly tired of the constant insults he was getting. His legacy of kissing Zak in the playground clearly never left him. And now that he has two dads, it was even worse.
Today was a fluster of "faggot lover," and "fairy," and last but not least "queer!" The usual. He simply rolled his eyes and curled his fingers to fists. Teachers normally glanced at him with a look of sadness.
He didn't need all that. He didn't want anyone's apologies to try to fight his own fight. He would be fine.
That same day Julian was passed a note in class. It had read:
If you really care about your dads be a real man and fight me you fairy - Zak
He crumpled the note and bore his eyes into Zak's. He hated him. He hated how fucking cute he was. How those pretty blue eyes and cute little smile hid how truly awful he was. He hated it.
Julian ripped out a piece from the corner of his page and scribbled something on it. It read:
I'll be glad to fight for them - Julian
★
Julian was all alone when facing him.
"Oh where's your gang?" Zak grinned.
"I have none," Julian ignored all the snickers around him. "I wanna face you alone. If you're truly the man you say you are then you'd fight me alone."
"Fine," Zak smirked. "Come here pretty boy."
Julian dropped his backpack and went for Zak, no hesitation needed. All he felt was a hand yank at his hair but he ignored it and made a fist with his hand, aiming it for Zak's face. The blue eyed boy cried out in pain and tried squirming in Julian's grasp but the auburn eyed boy had too tight of a grip on him.
He continued to punch and punch until he grew tired of it. His hand felt like it was on fire and he then settled for his left hand. But after a while he felt strong, large hands go around his waist and he was pried off of Zak.
The blue eyed boy was bloody, nose dripping blood at a surprising rate. His eyes were squinting, Julian had punched him excessively there and he had black eyes on both of them. He was trying to get away from Julian. He was scared of Julian.
"Mr. Lennon," an adult voice. The principal. Fuck. "Come with me."

John and Ringo had ran to the building when they relieved the call.
Julian sat idly at the nurses office while she wrapped bandages and gauze around his bloodied knuckles. He winced slightly and grinned when he saw his fathers standing in the doorway with horrifying looks on their faces. They ran for him, bombarding him with questions, threats, almost passing out when Julian spat some blood into a napkin.
"My boy's gone crazy," John laughed hysterically to himself. "There's no hope for him."
Ringo bit his lip and looked at John with extreme worry. Maybe it was him who was going crazy.
"But Daddy," Julian tried to speak up. "I did it to protect you guys."
"What?" John looked down at his boy.
"Zak. He wanted to fight me because of you guys. He called me a fairy. I chose to fight him because I wanted to protect you guys. I don't care about my reputation so long as I know that no one is disrespecting you guys." Julian explained.
Ringo smiled and brought him in for a hug. They looked up at John with expectant eyes and watched as he sighed in defeat and hugged them both.
"You two are fucking insane, just know that." John sighed and kissed both their heads.
"Yeah but you made me." Julian shrugged.
"And you married me." Ringo smiled.
"And they were the best decisions of my life." John laughed and the other two joined in.
In the end Julian ended up getting suspended for three days but it didn't matter. He got his justice. And he was delighted to know that Zak was expelled for his actions. This was his justice. This was what he was hoping for. Something was being done to respond to the hate of being different from others.
