The Balcony

I decided to call Destini on my way home. I quickly dialed her number and put the phone to my ear. She picked up on the third ring.

"Hey my bishhhh!!!", I hear her yell through the phone. I cringe at her loudness then laugh before I put my ear back to the phone. "Haha hey bestfriend. What you up to?", I say. I hear muffled shooting noises in the background. "Yyeeaaaaaa bitches!!" I look at the phone confused then hear her come back to the phone. "Girl my bad I just beat this level on Call Of Duty and I'm trippin!!", I hear her laugh hysterically. I bow my head down and laugh to myself before speaking again. "Aight so are you busy today?" "Nah, why wassup?", she says. "I wanted to know if I could come over. I need to talk to you". She smacked her teeth. "Girl you know you can come over here whenever now bring yo lightskin ass on" I laugh out loud then say ok and hang up. I quickly text my mom telling here where im gonna be then plug in my headphones and start my walk to destini's house.

After about 30 minutes of walking I was on her street. I looked out a bit further and could already see her house. This girl right here got a big ass house. As I got closer her balcony came into view. I squinted my eyes and could see Destini sitting on a chair talking to somebody that was facing away from me. I couldn't tell who the person was. I stopped for a second and pulled out my phone texting Destini and telling her that I was coming up to her house. I looked up and saw her look at her phone, indicating that she just got my message. She looked up and when she saw me she smiled and waved frantically. I shook my head and laughed at what I had just now realized........She was high as fuck. However, when I looked back up the person who was just facing away from me was now turned around looking right at me. My pace got slower and my breath seemed like it froze in my lungs.

I started walking quickly to her front door and as if it were perfect timing she opened the door just as I was about to knock. She pulled me into a hug and I was stiff. When she pulled away her face contorted into concern. "What's wrong?", she questioned me. There was a pause before I spoke. "You didn't tell me quad was here...." She looked down like she was confused then looked back up wide eyed. "Oh shit! I completely forgot Jasmine I'm sorry!" I sighed, "it's fine, I was just a little bit shocked that's all.. But can we talk now?" She shook her head then pulled me into the house. I greeted her brother and kasen then we walked upstairs to her bedroom. She closed the door behind us. I turned around and said,"where is he?" "I think he went back to his room so we good", she said before sitting down on her bed. I nodded then sat down on the black beanbag chair that was beside her bed. "Sooooo what did you want to talk about boo?", she said looking at me. "I've been thinking a lot about........you know who....",I said being nonchalant. She looked confused at first then nodded her head telling me to go on because she understood. "Ok well, I don't know destini. I thought I was over it all, but he's been in my head for THE LONGEST and I dont know why, but I know that everytime I think about him my stomach turns into freaking mush and I feel the urge to just talk to him and hug him and kiss him and I'm just... FEELING SOME TYPE OF WAY!!" I say all in a big jumble. While I'm sitting there catching my breath destini is looking at me wide eyed. Her bedroom was silent for about 2 minutes before she says something I didn't expect. "AAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW JASMINE YOU STILL FEEL SOMETHING FOR MY COUSIN!!!!! OOWEEEEE!!" At this point she is basically hitting my arm and fangirling. "Ow damn girl chill!!", I said laughing and swatting her hand away from me. We both start laughing then I get serious again. "But yes I do destini, I just, can't get him out of my head and I think....I don't know..... I want him to be mine again..." I can instantly feel my face getting hot and when I look up destini is grinning from ear to ear. I give her a small smile and start blushing like crazy. "Girl........you need to talk to him like ASAP. If you don't I will...", she says looking at me intently. I sigh then nod,"i know... I need to think about it some more" she nods understandingly then gets up pulling me up with her. As soon as I'm standing on my feet she pulls me into a tight hug. I hug her back and am instantly incredibly greatful for the bestfriend I have. I don't know where I would be without her. When she releases me I'm teary eyed and so is she. We laugh then wipe our tears.

We hear a knock on the door. Destini walks over and opens it to see Kasen. "Hey bae", he says kissing her on the cheek. "Hey lightskin",he says waving at me. I wave back and he looks back at destini. "Umm bae I wanted to take a walk with you right quick but if I'm interrupting something I can come back later...." Destini sighs and looks at me then back at kasen, "I'm sorry bae, maybe in a minu---" I cut her off. "Destini go. I'll be fine. I need to do some thinking anyway. Have fun babes" She looks at me and smiles, "are you sure?" I smile and nod. She smiles even wider and gives me a hug before leaving out.

I decide that I need some fresh air and walk onto her balcony. I grab onto the railing and look at the sky in deep thought. Breaking me out of my thought suddenly I hear something move behind me. I turn around fast and catch quad looking like he's trying to leave OFF OF the balcony. "Uhhhh hey Jasmine", he says looking like a deer in headlights. I just look at him. "Quad how long have you been here?" There was a long silence before he said anything. He looked down for a second then looked back up. "Since you came into destini's room. Actually...I never left." My eyes got wide. I could feel my face get hot and there was a long tension between us. I felt myself getting lightheaded then turn around facing away from him. I could hear him sigh then walk up beside me. At first he was looking up at the sky like I was. Then he turned to face me. I stayed I'm my same position. "I heard you say everything Jasmine..." He says almost in a whisper. I look down then back up at him, "I know you did.." We just look at each other for a second then he grabs my hand and says,"we need to talk". I nod and he pulls me to two seats on the balcony. We both sit down facing each other.

After a while, he takes my hands in his and looks me in the eyes. "Why didn't you just tell me ma?" I thought for a minute, not really knowing why I was so scared to tell him. "I don't really know quad.... Fear of rejection maybe? Ugh idk.." I looked down once again. He used his thumb and index finger to lift up my head so I was looking right at him. "I wouldn't reject you ma" I smiled shyly and he leaned in kissing my cheek. I smile again and he pulls me in for a hug. When he lets me out of the hug he kissed my forehead and placed my head in the crook of his neck. We both sat there and looked at the sky for what seemed like hours.

I could feel myself falling asleep and then I felt my phone vibrate. I pulled it out and my mom texted me asking me if I was coming home tonight. I quickly texted destini asking if I could spend the night and she quickly texted back saying I could. I texted my mom saying I was staying then returned my phone back to my pocket. I lifted my head and looked up at quad seeing that he was already looking down at me smiling. I smiled back and noticed his face turn slightly serious. "Where does this leave us?", he said still looking down at me. I thought for a second. "Wherever you feel like we need to be quad" He suddenly began smiling widely. He then leaned down and kissed my lips. It was a long but soft kiss. But it made my heart flutter. When our lips parted I slowly opened my eyes and looked into his. "You're mine Jasmine" I smile and kiss him again more passionately. I felt him intertwine our fingers and I smiled against his lips. He pulled away and flashed me his gorgeous smile that I could never resist. "I love you bae" he says putting his hand on my cheek. "I love you too", I say. I lay my head back on him and within a few minutes I could hear his soft snoring. I looked up at him and laughed quietly to myself trying not to wake him up. A little after I fell asleep smiling.
