Chapter 2

"I don't wanna go ma"I whined looking at my new school.

This is my first day of high school and I'm nervous. I never had friends in middle school and I don't want to go through that again.

"Go Mekhi. Your gonna be late"She signed.

"Please let me skip and I'll go the rest of the week"

"Boy go. Elias is gonna be there"She said mushing my head and I mugged her.

"Glare at me again"She said hitting me in the back of my head.

"Ow ma!"

"Go Mekhi. I'll bring pizza for dinner"She said and I got excited. I kissed her cheek and got out the car grabbing my bag.

"Bye"She waved and before I could return it, she drove off. Everyone was looking at me probably because of the car my mama was driving.

I walked inside the school and went to the office. I grabbed my schedule and went to my locker. I looked over the halls trying to see if I would find Elias but he was no where to be seen.

"Wassup. I'm Jesse and you are"This boy said opening up his locker next to mine.

"I'm Mekhi"I smiled at him.

"You wanna be friends. This is my first year of high school"He said and I nodded.

"What's your first class?"I asked.

"Um......I have math"

"I do too"

"Well you want to come with me to find it"He said and I nodded. We were walking up the stairs when some girl bumped into us.

"Oh! I'm sorry"She said.

"It's ok"I said and she nodded.

"Hi! I'm Jesse and this Mekhi. What's your name?"Jesse asked and the bell rung.

"I'm sorry. I have to go"She said and then ran down the stairs.

"She's cute"Jesse said as we walked inside our class and I nodded. She was though.

"You should try to talk to her"

"Why don't you talk to her?"

"Because I have a crazy girl from Memphis"He said as we sat down next to each other.

"Your from Memphis"

"Yea. I moved down here during the summer"He said and I nodded. The teacher walked in and her name was Ms.Richardson.

Elias finally walked in and he sat down next to us. "Wassup Cuz"He said and I mugged him.

"Where were you? I was looking all over for you"

"I was late. My momma was tryna stop Malik from crying"He said I nodded.

"How about we all introduce ourselves since this is our first year of 9th grade?"Ms.Richardson smiled and I mugged her.

"Bruh! You always mugging somebody. Watch yo face get stuck like that"Elias said.

"Foreal. Gon be looking like the grinch"Jesse laughed with Elias.

"How about we start with the boys in back who are laughing?"She said forcing a smile.

"I'm Elias Montgomery and I'm 14"

"I'm Jesse Figueroa and I like girls. So make sure y'all give me ya digits"

Everyone waited for me to say something but I just sat there.

"Can you please introduce yourself?"Ms.Richardson said and I sucked my teeth.

"I'm Mekhi Brown and I'm 14"I said drly.

"And yo-"She got cut off by the door opening. It was the same girl that me and Jesse bumped into this morning.

"I'm sorry I was late. I couldn't find your class"

"Don't let it happen again. Now introduce yourself"

"I'm Thea Sanchez and I'm from the Dominican Republic"She said. My whole world stopped when I heard her name.

"Elias"I whispered into his ear.

"I know bruh. It's your sister"

"I gotta talk to her"I said getting up but he pushed me back down.

"You forgot we can't tell her. You could be friends with her to get to know her but we gotta tell auntie and uncle Quincy"He said and I nodded.

She sat in the desk in front of us and I just stared at the back of her hair.

"Stop being a creep"Elias nudged me and I looked at the board.

We were doing some problems in the board and it was so easy.

"Um......excuse me"Thea said facing towards us.

"Wassup"Elias said as I sat there saying nothing.

"Do you guys get this? I'm so confused right now"

"He gets it"Jesse said nudging me.

"Oh ok! Can you help me?"She said and I nodded. I got up and sat down next to her.

"Ma! Dad!"I yelled running into the house dropping my book bag. I ran up the stairs and into their room.

"What Mekhi!"My mom said with an aggravated look.

"Where's dad?"I said and he walked out the bathroom.

"I'm right her, now what do you want?"He said sitting on the bed.

"I found Thea. I even talked to her"I said and my mom started crying.

"Are you serious?"My mom said.

"You better not be lying"My dad said.

"Ask Elias. She has all classes with me and I helped her in math"

"Do you have a picture?"My mom asked and I nodded. I took out my phone and showed them her Instagram.

"She's so pretty"My mom said handing him the phone.

"When can we tell her that's she is my twin?"

"Not now. We gotta find Andrew first"He said and I nodded.

I can't believe I finally found my sister. Like I really found my other half.
