Vergil had gone back to bed. I left the door open for him and Buttons. I sat on the couch down stairs, reading Lothaire by Kresley Cole. I was half way through and was on the part where Lothaire was showing Ellie the kill he had just made on a Shifter pack in a den underground. Gruesome.
I heard Buttons claws clicking on the hardwood floor and she ran out to the living room, jumping up on the couch next to me. I slid over, giving her room as she snorted in a breath.
"What, do you not want to be by Vergil anymore?"
But then the stairs creaked and Vergil came down, slowly and carefully.
"Vergil, what are you doing up? You should be resting!"
"If I sleep anymore, you might as well put me in a coffin."
I stood, rushing over to him to help him down. He staggered to the bathroom, releasing me and leaning against the wall. I backed away to give him space. He blinked hard, clearing sleep from his eyes.
"How are you feeling today?" I asked.
He shrugged, "Like crap."
"Yes, I am told it isn't fun being stabbed."
"Where'd you hear that?"
I opened my mouth to reply, but he held up his hand and cut me off, "And don't say the internet."
I closed my mouth, that being what I was going to say.
"I'm going to steal your shower for a little bit, just so you know."
"Are you sure? It might really hurt if you get water in it."
"Yes, but I cannot stand my hygienic state. It is a disgrace."
I smiled, "Wait there."
I turned around and walked to the living room to where I had placed his new shirts. I grabbed one; a brown one. I returned, "Sorry, um, I didn't get any pants because it would be kinda awkward to ask what size you wore. What I can do is wash your pants when you are in the shower. I don't know, can you stay in the shower for half an hour?"
He smiled, "I guess. But why would you buy me new shirts? You barely even know me."
"I know, but you needed them."
He sighed, crossing his arms over his bandaged chest, "How about I go to my house later and pick up some clothes? You can come with if you like."
Once again, red flags shot up. Go to this guy's house with him? Alone? But I still couldn't leave him and force him to fend for himself. I had to go along. I'd just pack my pocket knife...
I nodded, "Sure. When you're done with your shower and I replace your bandage though."
"Agreed."
I showed him how to work the shower and where the towels were. I closed the door after me, giving him full privacy. I took his pants, noting the size, then tossed them into the washer. He seemed so... Trusting.
Not that I'd do anything to hurt or force him into anything he wouldn't want to do...
I heard the water turn on and I settled down at the table, laying out the medical supplies that he would need. I wondered about him. How old was he? Why did he have white hair? Why would him and his brother fight like that?
Yes. He was good looking. Really good looking. Though I didn't say anything. He had to know about that. About his looks. He also seemed very intelligent. I needed to ask him what he went to college for.
Come on Cassi... I didn't have time to daydream about this mysterious man. I sighed, retrieving Lothaire, and began reading again.

"Ready to go?" I asked Vergil as he finished buttoning his coat.
He nodded. His white hair was shining and was slicked back. His pale skin glowed, and he smelled nice. His new bandage was hidden beneath his new long sleeve shirt, and his coat was fresh and crisp.
I lead him out the door, locking it behind me. I got into the driver's seat and started the truck as Vergil carefully got into the passenger's side.
"Tell me where to go, Vergil."
He directed me to the house. it was fairly secluded, pretty far back in the woods. It was a large white house.
"Nice place, Vergil. "
He shrugged, " It's okay, I guess. "
We entered the large structure. It was amazing. Large and spacious.
After a while he had special items he needed. I met him in the living room, egar to head home. Suddenly he froze.
"Vergil, what's wrong?"
He put a finger to his lips, drawing his sword. The front door closed and someone walked in. Vergil jumped around the corner, sword drawn. After a second, he spoke:
"Kat? What the hell are you doing here?"
