The Problem With the Sun...

I was about to move when Mundus spoke again, "And if you ever want to see Dante again, come to my lair in Silver Saks Tower. Come ALONE.'

He disappeared, leaving me there alone. I let out a cry, dashing to the spot where Jasmine had died. I collapsed to my knees, staring at the empty spot on the blacktop where she had last been.

"No..." I sobbed, feeling tears stream down my face.

With an angry howl, I slammed my fist into the blacktop, crumbling it. I mourned there for a moment longer, before I stood, pulling myself together. I gave the spot one last look before I turned and ran across the street and into the subdivision.

I was vaguely aware of the human's stares as they peered around the curtains at me. I raced through, my eyes scouring the landscape as I searched for Vergil. I stopped at a cemetery, smiling at the irony. I was a vampire in the cemetery....

"Cassi"

I turned to see Vergil. I raced to him, and he grabbed my shoulders, looking at the blood on my hands, "What happened?"

"The SWAT team followed me. I killed them. All of them. And Vergil..."

"What is it?"

"Jasmines... dead."

He grew sodden, "Ah..." He peered into my eyes, "You are still in the grip of a Blood Rage. Come, let's go home."

Vergil and I jogged off towards his house. I felt a part of my heart tear away as we raced from that cursed area. When I finally got him to slow down, I informed him of the new advancement of intelligence I had received.

"Vergil... Mundus told me that if I ever want to see Dante again, I have to meet him in Silver Saks Tower. Alone."

His expression grew dark, "They got Dante too? Damn, we can't go home."

"They took him from the house, didn't they?"

I seethed deep inside as he nodded. How the hell had they managed to kidnap Dante in the first place?

"We will have to go to the new Order building I set up. We have no choice."

"But... the werewolf!"

"Dead. We won't have to worry about him anymore. We need to get off of the streets."

He grabbed my wrist, pulling me in the direction of his "New" lair... piece of crap, about-to-tumble-down building. But I digress...

We raced through the alleyways, dodging police cars and flashlight beams. It was a very stressful moment, unsure what was around the corners.

Vergil slowed to a stop before me, breathing heavily. And that's when it got dark.

"Did they shut the traffic lights off? Why the hell would they do that?!"

Vergil shook his head, "They wouldn't. It must be Mundus." He peered around the corner, "Dammit! I can't see anything! You'll have to lead."

I walked shakily around him, my hunter eyes scouring the roads before me. There were a few mortals wandering blindly in the roads with small flashlight beams, but they weren't going to be a problem.

I leaned back against Vergil, whispering in his ear, "If we are quiet, we can sneak past these humans. They are blind too. Just stay with me."

I grabbed his wrist and began running. The humans heard our footsteps, and flashed the beams in our direction. I pulled Vergil roughly to the ground behind a dumpster, panting as the beam moved across the metal bin next to me.
