Have you ever woken up, and was so confused, you didn't know what was going on? Like you were confused for no reason at all? That's how I woke up.

I fell asleep on the couch, woke up in a bedroom. My eyes shot wide open, and I stumbled out of the bed, nearly tipping over. I grabbed the night stand, steadying myself before I fell. Vergil woke up, looking up at me, "Are you alright?"

"But... the couch... here..."

He sat up, "Relax. You're in my room. Yes, you fell asleep on the couch, but I brought you up here."

"The bullet.... the demonic bullet..."

"Fake. Just a regular bullet."

I stood there for a second, the confusion slowly draining from me. I slipped into the bed without any more words, and pulled the blankets to my chin. I took a deep breath, relaxing into the warmth on the bed that I had left behind. I felt Vergil's arm tighten around my waist as he fell back asleep.

I lay there staring at the alarm clock, the numbers glowing with a soft green color. 2:30 in the morning. Usually I would be happy to fall back asleep, but my hunter instincts kept me awake. I ran my tongue over my extended fangs, relishing the feel of power.

Had I hunted last night? I couldn't remember. It was beginning to become a problem. I felt like I couldn't get enough blood. It was a new feeling. Vergil's beating heart behind me teased my thirst, and I could feel his pulse through his hand on my stomach. I fought the urge to bite him.

I took a deep breath, squeezing my eyes shut. I can't do this for long! I fisted the pillow into my hand, squeezing it tightly enough that it began to rip. With a sigh, I sat up, waking Vergil again.

"What's wrong now?"

"I need to hunt."

He rubbed his eyes, "Didn't you hunt last night?'

"I don't think I hunted enough. I'm gonna go again."

Vergil sighed, getting out of bed, "I'm coming with you."

"No, Vergil. I don't want you to be in danger."

"By who?"

"Mundus. He could follow us."

"Pfft. Don't worry about him. I am a Nephilim God.... well, also a werewolf. But I will cure that before I can change again."

"I-I... I don't think it's a good idea."

He smirked, "I'm going no matter what."

I scoffed, smiling, "Alright, if you say so."

"Where is everybody?" I asked from beside Vergil as we walked down the abandoned street.

"Well, it is three in the morning. I'm sure most of them are in bed."

"But... But there's almost always someone awake and moving around during the night."

Vergil squinted through the darkness. I could see clearly, but he needed the street lights to be able to see anything.

"I guess they aren't up tonight."

I sighed, "I really don't want to break into someone's house. I don't feel comfortable doing that."

"We'll find someone."

We walked down the sidewalk, stopping at a stop-and-go light. Not a single car.

Vergil bristled beside me, "Something isn't right."

"You're just now realizing this?"

But that's when the figure appeared. He stepped out of his car on the corner, walking towards us. I saw the glint of light from his shirt, and realized it was a badge. And this man was a cop.
