"So, you are saying I am going to be killing humans."

Vergil nodded, "Yes."

I glanced up at the dark, starry sky, "Aren't I a demon?"

"Yes. You are now."

"And you are a demon hunter."

"I am."

"Then why haven't you killed me?"

He sighed, "Just because you are a demon, doesn't mean that you are bad. Dante and I have demon in us, are we bad?"

"No, but I am a vampire. I am killing humans. You vowed to protect humans."

Vergil turned to face me, "Look, this will sound weird. I can't bring myself to hurt you. I can't. Don't ask me to explain it; I can't. I... You are too nice to hurt. I do not know how anyone can do it."

I smiled sheepishly, "I understand what you are saying, Vergil. Though you are too shy to go out and say it."

"You do? What am I saying then?"

"You are saying that you like me."

He looked away. I could see him blushing, and I smiled, "Let's get started, shall we Vergil."

He nodded quickly, "Yes."

He directed me to the alleyway, sitting me down.

"I will try to lure a human down here. Act hurt. They will probably call an ambulance, and then you will strike."

I nodded, watching him turn and run down the alley. He disappeared around the corner, leaving me to the darkness. I could hear music in the distance, talking. I could smell every scent.

The darkness did nothing to make me blind. I could see well. I could see the garbage on the cement. A few cans, a candy wrapper. I could see the tiny ants too.

Suddenly, footsteps echoed down the alleyway. Vergil came dashing towards me, a man on his heels. I acted like I was having problems breathing. I lay there, clutching my neck.

"I- I don't know what happened! She saw this kitten and she followed it down here. She ran after it, and I stopped her, but then she collapsed. You HAVE to help her!"

The man crouched, "Ma'am, I am a doctor, can I help you?"

I made it look as if I was trying to say something, whispering silently, "Closer. Come closer..."

He did, he leaned his ear to my lips, and that was when I struck. I jumped forwards, bowling him over. I pinned him, sinking my fangs into his neck. He screamed, more of surprise than of pain. Vergil stepped back as I pinned the guy to the ground. He was young, probably in his late twenties, early thirties.

I thought that the blood would taste horrible, but I was wrong. It was sweet and quenching.

The man pried against me, trying to push me off. I had my hands on his shoulders, a leg across his stomach.

I drank until he quit moving. I pulled back, looking at his pale body. His chest rose and fell quickly.

"Cassi, finish him. Or else risk turning him. It will be bad."

I nodded, doing as I was told. I stood, staring down at the corpse at my feet. It was pale; its eyes sunken in.

I backed away, running into Vergil's chest. He grabbed my upper arms as I stumbled, balancing me.

"You alright?"

I nodded, eyes sewn to the carcass.  He wrapped me in a comforting hug, moving his lips to my ear.

"It's alright. You did it for survival. It was necessary. Relax,  I will dispose of the body."

I nodded, looking up at his comforting eyes. The blueness seemed to glow in the dark eerily. His hair was blond, teeth white. He was perfect to me.

He released me, crouching beside the body. He placed his hand on its chest, mumbling a few words. There was a bright flash of light, and the body seemed to disolve.

I stared at the ground, refusing to make eye contact with him. He walked back to me, turning me around and directed me back out of the alley. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders, and I leaned into his chest.

He opened the door of his car, helping me get in. I sat heavily, crossing my arms over my chest and hugging my body like I was cold. He slid in, buckling up.  I did the same.

As he pulled the car onto the road to go home, I re-pictured the murder I had committed.  The family whose life I had ruined. The kids I had corrupted.

"Vergil... I murdered someone."

He glanced over at me, "You did it for survival. It was a must."

"But what about all of the people I have hurt because of that!"

He sighed, closing his eyes slowly, "Cassi, think about it this way. If you would not have done that, you would've died. This is for your own good."

I trudged up to his room, curling up on his bed. Don't ask me why his room, I don't know.  He was down stairs, probably on the laptop. I had already told him to leave me alone.

I closed my eyes, begging for sleep to take away the memories.
