My eyes widened and I looked around. Oh no, not now!

The SWAT team member seemed unfazed. I put my hands in the air in surrender. But his finger twitched on the trigger, telling my he was probably going to shoot. At the last second, I dove behind the over turned fridge. Gun shots echoed as more SWAT members came down. I clamped my hands over my ears, squeezing my eyes shut and drawing my legs to my chest. Bullets ricocheted every where, sending sparks flying.

Where are you Vergil? Soon the gunshots died down, and there were four distinctive thumps. I risked a peek over my metal shield to see what had happened. Am I full of stupid decisions?

The SWAT team lay there, all dead, but there was no sign of Vergil. I ducked back down behind the fridge, hugging my knees to my chest. What do I do? Kat! I must call Kat!

She had told me that she could prepare a gateway that leads to and from Limbo. I dug my phone from my pocket, dialing her number.

"Hello?" she answered.

"Kat, I-I need your help."

"What? You sound shaken up. What happened?"

"I don't know. All I know is there was a SWAT team here at my house and Vergil got sucked into Limbo. I need you to get him out."

"Uh, yeah. I'll be right there. Sit tight."

I hung up, peeking over the fridge to look at the bodies again. They were all still bleeding and I could smell the blood on the air. Still nothing of Vergil.

"Um, Vergil..." I felt like an idiot talking to nothing, "If you can hear me, sit tight. Kat is on her way."

I sat like that for fifteen minutes when the door opened and Kat walked in. I was about to say something when she began talking.

"So Vergil, get into a little pinch?'

But he wasn't there. Kat giggled, "Okay, well let me open the gateway."

She pulled her stencil from her carrying pouch on her back, unrolling it and sprayed it in the floor. I watched the white powder shimmer, and Vergil slowly reappeared. My jaw dropped. He looked as if nothing happened and that this occurred every day.

He walked towards me, "Are you alright? Are you hurt?"

He reached for me, but I swatted hid hand away, "You ditched me in the middle of an attack!"

Something flashed across his face. I couldn't quite place it, but it was there momentarily. "I have no control over when or where I will be dragged into Limbo. I'm sorry, okay?"

"Why did you get sucked into Limbo if there weren't any demons around?"

He looked back over at the corpses, "Because those SWAT members were demons in disguise. They are all around you at every moment. They can take the shape of anyone at any time. But they always have one flaw, whether it is looks, speech, or how they act, they always have one."

I stared at him. I was beginning to think he was making all of this up. It didn't sound real. At all.

"What were they looking for, Cassi?"

I thought hard. What were they looking for? Nothing came to mind instantaneously. I shrugged, "I really don't know."

"Something must have been important. Did you ever have anything worth a lot or something you found but didn't know what it was?"

I shook my head, "I don't know, but can we just pack my bed and leave?"

Thus, we grabbed the last thing that I owned in that house.
