I crept back downstairs fifteen minutes later. Vergil sat on the couch with his feet propped up on the coffee table, and his laptop on his crossed legs. He was typing quickly, and his eyes never left the screen. I stopped at the last step, looking around for Jasmine.
"Don't worry, Dante and Jasmine left to go to the store a few minutes ago."
I stood there awkwardly, unsure what to do. I was embarrassed, and I felt bad for what I had done. I rubbed my arm and looked down.
"Are you going to run away from me now?"
I shook my head, "No. I am sorry. I felt bad, but I was bored, and I wanted something to do."
He chuckled, patting the empty part of the couch next to him, "Come sit."
I sat next to him, laying my head on his shoulder. He leaned his head against mine, and he scrolled through the page on the screen.
"Soo, what is the Normal?"
I scoffed, "Beats me. But if you ask what the normal is, you instantly have it."
"Ohhhh, I get it now. I thought you were referring to some Human disease or something."
"Nope. SO what are you looking at. Not.... not that I am trying to be nosey or anything..."
"You're fine," He moved the laptop closer to me, "Have you ever heard of a Blood Bond?"
"Yeah. It is in Lothaire. Or something close to it."
"Well, that book is written by a human who knows these secrets. All those things you read in there are true. Well, marriage is unnecessary to immortals. Blood Bonds are much more sophisticated, but they are worth it."
"Why are you telling me this exactly?"
"Well... I was thinking.... you know... If we were to decide on spending the rest of our lives together, we could use one of these."
I looked up at his blue eyes. He was so respectful to me. I smiled happily, "Wow. Yeah, that's a great idea."
He looked away, cringing slightly, "I knew that might happen."
"What?"
"I am rushing things. And you know it. I am scaring you, aren't I?"
I shook my head, "No! It's just... I don't know what to say. I mean, I have never had anyone say something like this to me before. I don't know how to react."
He smiled, but I could see that he was still having doubts. I Wrapped him in a hug. He smiled, "Hey now! What's this?"
"I am hugging you. I am not kidding. I love the idea. I really, REALLY do. But I don't know what to say. Honestly? I am really excited for this now."
He smiled, "Really?"
I nodded vigorously, "Yes!"
He bit his lip as his smile grew wider. I lay my head across both of his legs so I was staring him in the face, "When is Kyle coming tonight?"
He smiled down at me, "Probably at seven. How is your Thirst?"
I shrugged, "I am doing fine for now."
He nodded, glancing at his watch, "It is a little after noon now."
I sat up, "Where did the time go?"
He kissed me, "I spent it on you."

Kyle arrived a little after seven thirty. I met him at the door, and I allowed him inside. He nodded at Vergil, who smiled back.
"Hey, Kyle? I was wondering if we could go hunting tonight. I didn't get to go yesterday."
He nodded, "Yes. And I can teach you some tips on that too."
"I will drive you where you guys need to go, " Vergil said, standing.
Kyle nodded, "Yes, that would be best. Until she knows how to Trace, that is."
He turned to me, "First of all, let's get the hunting out of the way. It might help you concentrate better."
* * *
We walked back into the house after we had finished hunting. Kyle had taught me tips on drawing in humans, and hiding the body. I was relieved at the amount of help I was getting throughout this time period.
I was working on Tracing again. I concentrated really hard, but I still couldn't get it to work. I was beginning to get frustrated too. Vergil cut in,
"Kyle, may I interject some help in Cassi's direction?"
Kyle nodded. Vergil stood, "Try not to concentrate so hard. Think of tracing, but blend that with happy thoughts too. That should help."
I nodded, closing my eyes. I thought about tracing to the stairway. But I also thought of spending the rest of my life with Vergil. This made me really happy, but I didn't feel any different. I opened my eyes, and was astonished with what I saw. I was standing at the stairwell!
Vergil and Kyle were smiling at me, and I almost yelled with joy.
"I DID IT!!!"
Vergil gave me the thumbs up, and I ran up and hugged him. Kyle was smiling broadly,
"Make sure you practice that as much as possible now."
I nodded, "I will!"
He smiled and nodded curtly, "Let's leave this session at that tonight. Get some sleep, and I will see you again tomorrow. You will be learning how to fight tomorrow."
I nodded at him, and he disappeared to go back home. Vergil tightened his grip around me, "Jasmine and Dante. Did you hear about them?"
I shook my head.
"They're dating."
My eyes widened, "Really?! That's great!"
He nodded, "They are in bed already, and I think we should be too."
"Yes, I agree."
I traced upstairs, and he met me at the door. I changed into my pajamas, and curled up next to him under the blankets. He wrapped me in a warm hug, and we fell asleep like that.
