Chapter 1.

Vic's POV

I stared at the time of my phone. Great. Another 40 minutes of this bullshit.

'Mr Fuentes.' I heard my maths teacher, Mr Thomas say. I sighed and glanced up from my phone. He glared at me and carried on rambling on about algebra or some crap like that. Ding! I switched my phone screen on again to see a notification from my brother, Mike. I smirked and opened up the message.

This class is never going to end is it?

I glanced over to him, sitting in the other side of the room. He was smiling over to me.

Mike's two years younger than me and should be in the grade below but he's ahead of everyone in that grade and always came home moaning about everyone's stupidity. So, arrangements were made and he ending up in nearly all my lessons. Which doesn't bother me, Mike and I are really close. We're all each other has anymore.

It feels like it, doesn't it?

I texted back. Mr Thomas cleared bis throat loudly and shot me another glare. I sighed and put my phone down on the desk.

I heard a few people snicker. I let my bangs cover my eyes and I looked down and the desk. I was that kid that no one really liked. I hung out with my brother and even though he was younger than me, he looked after me and got into fights with people that picked on me.

It kind of pisses me off when he 'looks after me.' I can take care of myself.

I looked up to see my Brother shooting death stares and the people that laughed at me. I sighed. I pulled out my phone again.

I can look after myself. Stop it.

I watched Mike, waiting for him to receive my text.

He picked his phone up and read my text. He looked at me and glared, but had a hint of amusement in his face.

I was about to text him back when I felt a warm breath on my neck. I switched my phone and turned around to face a sniggering Bert.

'Is brother being your mommy?' He sniggered.

I ignored the comment and stared at the black board, hoping the lesson would end soon.

'Actually, where is your mommy?' He laughed, gaining a few snickers from the other students. I dug my nails into the palm of my hands. I couldn't lose my temper. Not here, not now.

He looked up to the ceiling. 'Oh no! Mrs Fuentes! She's gunna float down from heaven and hit me with her wings!' He said, pretending to be scared.

Mike was glancing over at us. I shot him a glare.

'Maybe she's Satan! I mean, who says she went to heaven. Wait! Do you hear that?' He said. The only sound was Mr Thomas still droning on, paying no attention to Bert.

Everyone listened for a second. A small spread across his face.
'That's the faint sound of her screams as she burns in the pits of hell!' He laughed.

Mike slammed his hands on his desk, making me jump. He stood up in his chair.

Mikes well known for fights, so the smile quickly faded From Bert's face. He rolled his eyes.

'Dude. Chill. I was just messing.'  He said.

That's when mike lost it.

He flipped the table over, sending pens and pencils flying everywhere.

'Don't tell me to chill!' He boomed.
'Excuse me boys!' Mr Thomas yelled.
Mike ignored him and marched over to Bert.

'Mike, don't.' I said, quietly.

He ignored me. 'What did you say about my Mom?' He yelled.

Bert sat on his seat, looking slightly intimidated, but you could see him trying to hide it.

I couldn't stop Mike now, so I just sat there and watched.

'HEY!' He yelled at Bert.

'Mike, calm down!' I yelled.

'Shut it, Fuentes.' Bert snapped.

I tugged on Mikes sleeve but he pulled away. 'Mikey.' I whispered. He shook his head. 'No way, he's not getting away with this.' He muttered.

'Yeah, listen to your brother and shut it. Your parents are probably glad they died, they don't have to face their fucked up child everyday.' Bert sneered.

My vision became blurred with tears. I got up and ran out of the classroom, slamming the door behind me.

I could hear Mike yelling and Bert screaming. I guess that comment really got to him, he's overprotective of me and he knows that's what I tell myself everyday.

I ran into the bathroom and locked the door. I slid down the Wall and buried my face in my hands. How dare he bring my parents into this. How fucking dare he. I got up and punched the mirror, sending shards of glass flying everywhere. I winced in pain as a sharp edge of glass pierced into my knuckles.

A tear rolled down my face. I quickly wiped it away. I can't believe I let my emotions show in front of the whole class.

I sighed. I couldn't stay in the toilet for the rest of the lesson.

I unlocked the door and started walking back to my maths lesson.

I opened the door and walked over back over to my seat. I glanced at Bert who already had a black eye and a slash down the side of his face. I sat down and looked at my brother who didn't even have a scratch.

I smirked. Of course. He always wins.

He winked and turned back round to face the front.

Mr Thomas sighed. 'Mike, Vic, Bert. Stay behind after lessons please.' He said.

I rolled my eyes and looked at my phone. Just 10 more minutes..

The door flew open. 'Mr Quinn?' Mr Thomas said.

'Everyone out!'  The guy screamed.

We all stared at him in confusion.

Suddenly a blood curdling scream echoed throughout the building.

Everyone looked panicked.

'It's not safe! Run! Go, go, go!' He yelled.
