Chapter 25
KELLIN'S POV
'I can see the buildings, we're so close!' Gabe yelled over the sound of the howling wind. I didn't dare to look up, the sand was whipping around us and I couldn't risk getting a face full of it again. My face was still red and blotchy from an hour ago.My ears ached from the amount of wind thrashing at them and I was finding it extremely hard to hear, breathe or see.
'A few more steps, It will take about five minutes!' Gabe yelled. How he could see, I have no idea. I was just glad that we were nearly in the city.
I could tell we were near as the wind started to die down and the sand was no long flying into our faces. Cautiously, I glanced up, my hands still protecting my face just in case.
But to my surprise, I could see clearly and there was only a bit of sand still flying around.
Now that we had gotten a closer look at the buildings we could all see that they were a complete wreck.
They had moss and vines climbing up the side of them, the windows where all smashed in, and the color was a dark, gunky black. I gave Vic a nervous glance before walking ahead and exploring the deserted city.
'Be careful Kells, there are gunna be walkers everywhere!' My dad called. I nodded as Vic took my hand and squeezed it, giving me a small nod.
We walked on into the distance, desperate to find anything. We walked into a building, kicking glass and debris out the way.
'What are we even looking f-' I was cut off by a loud screech. I looked a vic in shock, his face mirroring mine. We stood there in panic for a while before quickly running to the source of the sound.
We ran around a corner before colliding into someone and falling to the floor. I got up quickly and brushed myself off only to find it was Alex and the rest of the group.
'What happened? Is anyone hurt?' I asked in panic.
'N-no... we thought it might've been you!'' Alex said, looking around.
'Run!' The same voice screamed. We looked around before seeing a group of walkers head into a building, the place the sound was coming from.
I took out my gun and looked at the others for their approval. They nodded quickly before taking out their own guns and shooting at the large group of walkers.

3..
4..They dropped like flies, we ran into the building, only to see a stomach churning view.
We hadn't got there quick enough. There was a group of walkers ripping apart a now unidentifiable person. The stench off blood and flesh stained the air.
We shot the five walkers down before quickly looking away, not wanting to see the mess they had made. I took a shaky breath before stepping outside. The sound of sobbing stopped me in my tracks.
I snapped round, keeping my gaze off the body.
'Hello?' I asked, stepping in with my gun still up. 'Be careful...' Vic warned, walking by my side.
I walked around the corner to see a girl, probably my age or slightly older, sitting on the stairs, her hands in her face.
She had cool hair, half was black and the other half was red. It flowed down to her shoulders.
'Hi.' I said softly, lowering my gun.
She looked up at us, tears streaming down her face. 'Hi..' she whispered back.I sat down next to her on the stairs. Vic gave me a worried look and mouthed 'what do I do?'
I shrugged so he sat on the floor in front of us, awkwardly playing with his hair.
I smiled slightly at his cuteness then remembered the situation and looked back at the sobbing girl.
'I'm sorry we didn't get here in time.' I said. She looked up at me and smiled sadly. 'It's not your fault. Jimmy kinda wanted to die anyway...' she said, a tear rolling down her face.
So it was a guy...
'W-where you close to him?' I asked. She nodded, 'yeah, he told me once this was all over we could get married but....' she trailed off and looked at his remains, wincing.'I'm sorry.' I said. She shook her head and got up, 'I should get going, the walkers have probably heard the gunshots and will be here soon..' she said.
'You have a group?' I asked. She shook her head, 'I did, but then we became the only ones left... now I guess I am..' She said. I nodded, 'oh..'
'How many are in your group?' She asked. I shrugged, 'is it bad that I've lost count?' I asked. (I actually have btw, I can't remember who's in it😂)
She laughed. 'It's better to have lots then none at all.' I nodded.
Jeuse walked round the corner, obvious he had been listening. 'You should join us, we're going to London.' He said. I nodded.
She looked shocked, 'You're going to London too?' She asked.
'Wait you know about London?!' Vic asked. She nodded, 'yeah, Jimmy was a spy at that stupid walker lab thing.' She said. I smiled at her.
'Wanna come with then?' I asked. She shrugged, 'I wouldn't wanna intrude.' I laughed, 'we're basically going in the same direction.'
She laughed slightly, 'I guess, come on, I have a car, it will be hard to fit everyone in but it's better than walking.' She said.
I froze.
'You have a car?!' We all said in-sync.
She laughed and nodded.
And just like that, all hope was restored.
