Chapter 13
*1 week later.
VIC'S POV
We all sat down out the table, ready to eat our last breakfast in this house. I'd definitely miss it here. I sighed, I knew we were only meant to stay for the night, but with me having my legs in stitches, I couldn't exactly go anywhere, and even though I told them they could go without me, they refused every time.
Mike, noticing my loud and probably over dramatic sigh said 'What's wrong.' Everyone looked at me for an answer. I smirked slightly, feeling like I was holding a bag of fries and I was surrounded by hungry pigeons.
I shook my head. 'Nothing, I just, I-I just guess we could be a lot closer to England by now if it wasn't for me.' I said. Jaime shrugged and popped a dried cranberry in his mouth. 'I've rather enjoyed it here.' He said.

I don't know why I felt nervous. I guess I've been used to lounging around all day and easily finding food in the cupboards rather than hunting for it.
'You ready?' Kellin asked, chucking me a hand gun. I smiled slightly and nodded. Hayley, who hasn't said much this past week - probably because she wanted to get to England quickly, and to be honest, I don't blame her, opened the door and stepped outside, breathing in the fresh air. As soon as my foot hit the ground nerves shot through me. But in a strange way, excitement did too..
We trudged along the dirt track, being outside for the first time in a week would feel much nicer if I wasn't terrified a group of walkers would come out from the trees at any moment.
The rest of the track wasn't very long till we got to the main road. It was completely deserted, only a few smashed up or broken down cars on the side of the road.
We kept walking, and not before long, the sun was coming down. Mike frowned. 'Winters coming..' He stated. I smirked and looked at Kellin to see if he was thinking what I was thinking. He too had a smile on his face. I turned to see Tony standing there with a small grin on his face. Mike frowned again. 'What are you all smirking at.' He asked. Kellin sniggered slightly. 'Nothing, I just didn't realise you were Jon Snow.' He chuckled, getting a small snicker from Tony, Alex and I. 'What?' He asked, confused.
Kellin rolled his eyes. 'Oh come on, Please don't tell me you haven't watched Game of Thrones?' He asked. Mike sighed. 'Is that really what you guys find funny, wow...' He said sarcastically. 'Winters Coming!' Alex said, putting on his best Jon snow impression. We were so random at times.
We ran to catch up with Tay, Hayley and Gabe who were walking ahead. 'I heard you talking about Game Of Thrones so we left.' Tay said. That programme definitely was not her thing. Me and Alex chuckled.
But the mood was quickly changed when Alex let out a small whimper and froze to the spot.
'No.' He whispered, his eyes already filling up with tears. I looked at him, confused. 'W-what?' I asked, generally concerned. Tears were streaming down his face as he pointed to a small clearing in the distance, with just one walker standing in it, watching us. 'Alex, It's fine, it's just the one.' I said, still confused. He shook his head as more and more tears poured down his face. 'I could recognise that red hair streak anywhere.' He said quietly.
Still confused, I marched over to the walker, trying to see what the fuss was all about, Alex and the rest following close behind. As I got closer, I began to see their features more. This particular walker had dark brown hair with a red streak through it and a small bit of stubble on their chin and around their mouth. I could just about make out the Motionless In White shirt it was wearing through blood stains and rips. 'He' looked awfully familiar. Thats when it hit me.
I turned to face Alex who was now crying extremely loudly.
'Alex, I'm so sorry.' I whispered.
'Jack.' He sobbed. My heart thumped quickly in my chest as the name had been confirmed for definite. This was Jack, Alex's old best friend and also a quite good friend of mine. This didn't seem real. Jack Barakat, the class clown..
The walker version of Jack started hobbling over to us. 'No, No.' Alex sobbed, shaking his head. 'Jack, it's me! Alex, You're best friend.' He cried, but the walker kept walking.
I tugged on Alex's arm. I knew we couldn't shoot it. Especially not in front of Alex. 'Come on.' I whispered. 'No!' He screamed.
Mike grabbed his other arm.
'Alex, I know it's hard but, that's not Jack. That thing in front of you isn't Jack.' Mike said softly, tugging slightly harder on Alex's arm as the walker got closer.
'I have to see if part of him's still there.' Alex said, stepping closer to 'Jack.'
'Alex d-' 'No! If this was Kellin you'd do the same, right?!' He said. I nodded slowly.
'But, think of Jaime, He needs you, you need each other!' I said pointing to Jaime, who was frozen in shock.
It was a waiting game, how long until they got to close and boom, Alex was gone too.
The walker had its teeth bared, snapping them together loudly occasionally. As it got closer, I could see his eyes were blurred, like a unclear gray-white color.
'Alex!' I warned again.
The walker snarled at me. 'Jack' hadn't made any sudden moves. He moved closer to Alex, still baring his teeth.
Something was different. His clouded eyes weren't full of hatred or hunger, just...nothing.
'Jack?' Alex questioned. The walker suddenly collapsed to the floor, laying on the cold ground, lifelessly.
I would've thought someone shot it but there was no gunshot or blood - apart from the stuff already there.
We stood there in shock.
Alex turned to face me, who looked just as confused as I did, he still had tears rolling down his face.
Jaime sighed and kissed his forehead. 'I know it's hard but, we have to keep going. It's getting late.' He said, wiping a tear from alex's face with his thumb.
By now, thousands of questions were running through my mind.
Why did he just collapse? Why didn't he attack Alex? Why wasn't he with other walkers?
I couldn't think straight, but then again, it had been a long and stressful day. The sun had nearly completely gone down and we had to move quickly to find a place to stay for the night..
But I felt like I wasn't going to get much sleep, there were too many unanswered questions.....
