Chapter 3
Back to present time..
VIC'S POV
I sat on the edge of a cliff, my legs dangling of the side. I sighed and ran my fingers through my knotty brown hair. I shifted slightly closer to the edge, debating in my head wether to jump or not.I haven't seen my brother, Mike, since we left the school. For all I knew, he could be dead. And he probably was.
Jaime, Tony, and I climbed this cliff a few months back and we haven't left since. The things we figured out to be walkers, are too stupid to climb up here, so at the moment it's safe. You did get the odd walker that was Human up here but was infected and turned. But by now, we've probably killed them all.
I looked down to the floor, the drop was high.
I haven't been in contact or sight of a human that wasn't in the group I was in at the moment for at least 3 months.
I scanned the area, praying for a human sighting, I used to look for Mike, but I gave up hope after a few weeks.
I was about to give up when I saw something shift in the corner of my eye. I gasped. I had to be imagining it. I shot my head back, only to find out it was another walker.
'Little fucker.' I muttered.
I looked up to the sky. 'Mom, dad.' I whispered. 'I'll see you soon.'
I shifted closer and closer to the edge until the only thing keeping me there was my hands gripped to a rock.
I was about to let go when a voice spoke out of no where.
'Dude, that's way too close!' The close said, making me jump.
I sighed.
'Alex, you scared the shit out of me.' I muttered.
Alex had tagged along with us when we found him in the woods about 5 months ago. He was still mourning over the loss of his friend, Jack.
I didn't move. He sighed and walked over to me, sitting next to me and dangling his legs over the side.
'Hey, don't, you might fall.' I said.
He looked at me and chuckled slightly.
'Bit hypercritical.' He laughed. I rolled me eyes and smirked. I sighed again and stood up, holding my hand out to Alex. He smiled and took it, pulling himself up.
Jaime walked out. 'You guys alright?' He asked, placing a kiss on Alex's cheek.
We nodded. He had one hand behind his back. 'What have you got there?' I asked, nodding towards his hand.
He smiled and pulled out a rose.
'Happy one year dating anniversary, Alex.' He smiled.
Alex's cheeks went pink. 'Thanks.' He whispered shyly.
I laughed slightly and left them to each other.
KELLIN'S POV
I paced around the campfire.'Dude, that was way too close!' I said. We had been chased by a mob of Walkers. There were probably at least 20 of them.
Gabe sighed.
'I know, I know.' He said. I ran my hands through my hair.
I looked over to Mike, who was staring at the campfire, his eyes dull and full of sadness.
I sighed and sat next to him.
'Mike, we'll find him.' I whispered. He shook his head. 'You don't understand, Vic couldn't even fight humans, let alone these brain eating fucks.' Mike muttered.
'Don't think that way, I'm sure he's fine.' I said.
'He's all I had.' He whispered, the light from the fire flickering in his eyes.
'I know.' I whispered.
'No, no you don't.' Mike muttered.
I sighed. 'Sorry.' He whispered. I frowned. 'For what?' I asked. He breathed out heavily. 'Well, you probably had to leave your whole family behind, I have no parents. I don't really know what that feels like.' Mike muttered.
I could see Gabe look up, he knows the truth.
I shook my head. 'Actually.. that's not true.' I muttered..
*flash back to 6 months ago..
I ran into the house, opening the door, seeing my drunken mom asleep on the sofa, surrounded by empty alcohol bottles. I sighed and shook her, looking back to Mike, Gabe and Nick waiting outside.'Mom!' I yelled, shaking her. She groaned.
'What do you want you piece of shit.' She slurred. I rolled my eyes.
'Mom, you gotta get out.' I said.
She scoffed. 'Don't tell me what to do!' She said in a drunken slur.I grabbed her wrist and tried to drag her off the sofa.
'Gerroff me!' She grumbled and stood up.
'Mom! You have to get out! It's not safe!' I yelled.
She laughed. 'Why not?' She said.
I sighed. She wasn't going to believe me, but what have I got to loose?
'Zombies, everywhere.' I muttered.
Anger shone in her eyes.'You fat liar!' She screamed, smacking her hand across my face, catching me with the metal of her ring.
'No wonder why your father left you, liar!' She screamed, hobbling over to me with a broken wine bottle in her hand.
My eyes widened as she aimed for me, missing by an inch.
I decided to give up and I ran out of the house, slamming the door.
'Where is she?' Mike asked.
I shrugged. 'Not here.' I lied. Gabe looked at me as in to say 'didn't believe'I nodded and we ran for it, seeing a group of walkers hobbling round the corners.
*back to present
'I'm sorry to hear that.' Mike said quietly, after I told him everything.
I shrugged. 'Eh, doesn't bother me much.' I muttered.
He nodded slightly as he sat down on the floor.
'Goodnight Quinn.' He said.
'Goodnight, Barham.' He whispered.'Night, Fuentes.' Me and Gabe muttered.
