Chapter 20
VIC'S POV
'W-what?!' I stuttered.
Everyone had crowded around Gabe to find out what was going on.
'I-I know...' He whispered again. 'W-where are we Gabe?'
'N-Nashville!' He said in excitement. Everyone looked around, beaming widely.
'We're gunna make it! We actually might make it!' Alex screamed.
Me, not being very good at geography, was slightly confused. 'Where's Nashville on the American map?' I asked. Gabe grinned. 'We started off in San Diego right?' He said, I nodded in response. 'We're probably at least over three quarters of the way there!' He yelled, making everyone cheer as well.
(I think this is about right, I don't live in America so Idk😂)
'Theres an airport here, about a ten minute drive away.' He added. 'We all know what that means don't we?' He smiled.
'Food!?' Kellin squealed. 'Lots of it!' Gabe smiled. We all cheered again and Gabe started the engine again, heading to the Airport.
We all settled down again in our seats.
'K-Kellin?' I asked. His gaze flickered to mine, 'Yeah?' He asked. I sighed, 'What happened to your parents?' His bright eyes suddenly turned dull. 'I'm sorry, you don't have to answer that..I-I was just curious..' I stuttered. He shook his head, 'It's okay..errr..Well my dad left when I was young, I still don't know why.' He frowned, 'I guess the hardest part is not knowing wether he's alive, you know?' He said, I nodded. 'What about your mom?' I asked. He scoffed, 'Probably dead..' I said. He face turned to a sympathetic look. I shook my head, 'Oh, no. I don't care! She was fucking dead to me anyway.' I said. He frowned again, 'Oh?' He asked. I scrunched my nose up and shrugged, 'I told you, you don't remember?..' He asked. I thought about it for a second.,'Oh..Oh god yeah, I do. Sorry that day was kinda a blur...' I said. He nodded,' Yeah..' 'Do you miss your dad?' I asked. He shrugged, 'I guess, I don't know. I was really young when he left. I remember him being really nice though. Mom always said I was a spitting imagine, then h-he left and she blamed it all on me. I still don't know why he left, maybe it was my fault...' He said, frowning.
I shook my head and placed my hand on his shoulder, 'Of course it wasn't your fault, Kells.' I whispered. He sighed and nodded, 'I guess.' He whispered. 'What about your pare-..oh.....sorry.' He said. I sighed loudly and shook my head slowly, 'It's okay.' I whispered, giving him a reassuring smile.
'So...how far away do you think we are from Orlando?' I asked, changing the subject. He shrugged, 'Dunno, We have to start going a bit more South than East now.' He said. I nodded.
The van came to a stop. 'We're here!' Gabe called out, excitedly. We all rushed off the van to go outside.
'Will there be any walkers in there?' Jaime asked. Gabe shrugged, 'You know as much as me.' He said.
'Oh my god, do they sell clothes?!' Mike asked. Gabe smirked and nodded. 'Yes!' I cheered.
We hurried towards the doors. They weren't smashed in. That's a good sign right? 'How are we gunna get in?' Ash asked.
'Errr.....' Gabe said, rummaging through his pockets. 'Like this.' He said, pulling a bobby pin out of his jean pocket. 'Why on Earth do you carry that with you?' I asked. He shrugged, 'Coz I thought it would come in handy, and it obviously does.' He said. Good point...
After a few minutes of trying to pick the lock, we finally got in. The door flew open and we were greeted by an empty, massive room, filled with shops and stalls. 'Oh my god!' Andy whispered. This was heaven, and so far, not a walker was to be seen.
'Uhh, guys?' Jaime said. We all turned around to face him. 'I have a feeling we're not the only people here..' He said, pointing to a backpack propped up against the wall. 'Jaime, We're in an airport, there's bound to be luggage.' I said. He shook his head. 'Yeah thats what I thought, but...' He gently moved the bag out of the way with his foot to show a torch and a fresh, red apple. 'Wouldn't the apple have gone off?' He said. 'Uhh, yeah..I guess..' I said. Tay sighed, 'I guess someone was on night watch but got bored huh?' We all nodded. 'Come on, let's explore.' Mike sighed.
KELLIN'S POV
Vic, Mike, Tony and I immediately rushed off to the clothes store to get new clothes. 'Wait!' Vic said loudly, stopping me before we walked in. He pointed to a shop on the other side of the room. 'Hot Topic?' He smirked. 'I didn't even know they had them in Airports.' I laughed, taking his hand and sprinting towards the shop. 'We do now.' I giggled.
We burst into the shop. 'Ladies first, Quinn.' Vic teased. 'Ahaha..' I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes. This store was literally my heaven but I rarely went there before the world turned to...this..
I looked around and spotted a Slipknot shirt. 'Yas!' I screamed and ripped my dirty, ripped shirt off and flung the new one on. It felt so nice. I ran over to the jean section and threw on a pair of black skinny jeans.
I turned around to see Vic wearing a Creeper shirt and some ripped, black jeans. Damn he looked hot.
We walked out the store and immediately went to find some water to tip over our hair to clean up more. We probably should have done that before we got changed. Vic disappeared for a while, going to find some food, whilst I found Tony and Mike again.
VIC'S POV
(sorry I keep skipping POVS)
I managed to loose Kellin. Wow vic.
'Kellin? I called out, my voice echoing through the large airport. 'Oi, Quinn! Get your ass over here!' I screamed, but still no response.
I ran upstairs on the broken escalators. 'Kells?' I called out. Yet again, no answer. 'Kells, this is not funny!' I called out. I heard a noise from the mini Walmart. 'Hey!' I called out.
'Guys seriously!' I yelled, getting afraid now. 'Kellin!' I yelled. Oh fuck it. I quietly walked into the shop. 'Quinn this seriously isn't funny.' I said.
'Who the hell are you and how do you know my name!' A rough voice from behind said. This certainly wasn't Kellin..
I turned around to see an older man, probably mid 40s, early 50s, pointing a gun at me.
'Uhh, sorry...I-I didn't know you w-were here, I was just looking f-for my friend..' I stuttered. He lowered the gun slightly, but still kept it pointed at you. 'How do you know my name if you didn't know I was here!?' He said loudly, raising the gun again. 'I didn't! My friend...must have the same name as you or something, you're names Kellin?' I asked. He frowned and shook his head. 'You said Quinn.'
'Oh, thats his surname. You're first names Quinn than?' I asked. He frowned again, 'No, thats my surname.' He said. 'Oh, so it must have been a misunderstanding, my friends surnames Quinn too...' I said.
'So whose Kellin?' He asked. I sighed and managed to stop myself from rolling my eyes. 'Kellin's his first name, Quinn is his surname... Okay?' I said.
His face softened, but then turned back to the stone cold frown he had before.
'W-where are you two from?' He asked. 'S-San D-diego....' I whispered
He shook his head and scoffed.
'Who are you and what do you want ?' He growled. I frowned. 'M-me and my friends are just t-trying to get to London...' I said, taking a step back. 'No, you're working for someone, I know it. You're trying to find my weak spot.' He said, raising the gun again.
'N-no, I just wanna find my friends again.' I said, stepping back again.
'No, you're taking the piss.' He said. I frowned. 'W-what do you mean?' I asked,
'Kellin Quinn's my son...'
Yay!
