Chapter 8
VIC'S POV
My brother smiled slightly, but then frowned. 'So, you're in love...why is that a bad thing?' He asked. I sighed and shook my head.
'Because, who in their right mind would go out with me? And I made a complete fool of myself earlier.' I said. Mike put his arm around me.
'Vic, you're funny, smart, and I know it may sound weird coz you're my brother and it would be strange, but I mean...You're pretty damn good looking!' He chuckled. I jokingly made a face of disgust before chuckling too. I was so lucky to have him as a brother.
'Thanks Mike.' I whispered. He smiled at me. 'Anytime.' He smiled. I looked up at him. 'I mean it Mike, You're always there for me. I couldn't ask for a better brother.'
He looked at me. 'You know,' He started, 'When you weren't here, Kellin wouldn't stop going on about you, coming to think about it...' Mike muttered. I shook my head. 'No, Mike. Please don't. I'll just get my hopes up and have to face rejection. I can't go through that again..' I whispered, remembering the time a few years ago when I really liked a boy in my grade, Josh Dun, so I got up the courage to ask him out, but he wasn't gay. It was so humiliating.
'Well I think you'd look cute together.' Mike smiled.
'Who would?' A voice said, making me jump.
I turned round to see Kellin standing there, smiling slightly.
'Bloody hell Kellin!' I said, shocked.
My stomach was doing backflips. He hadn't heard what we were saying had he?
'Ummm.. y-you weren't listening to our conversation w-where you?' I stuttered.
He shook his head and frowned. 'Uhh.. n-no, I just came to see if you were okay, coz you kinda, ran off quite quickly. Sorry, I didn't know you were having a private conversation.' He said, awkwardly.
I shook my head. 'It's okay.' I said.
Mike smiled at us, 'Well, better leave you too it!' He said, with a smirk on his face.
I rolled my eyes. Kellin stood there awkwardly, scratching the back of his head.
'Y-you look nice today.' Kellin said. I smiled. 'I-I mean, not that you don't usually look nice, I mean, You look amazing all the time but I mean, umm... That you j-just look really nice today.. like everyday but.. umm... You look lovelyer today, is that even a word, I don't think so..I mean there aren't any dictionaries here are there?' He said quickly. I chuckled slightly.
'Uhh, thanks. You look nice too' I laughed.
'O-oh I do? Haha, Thanks.' He said awkwardly.
'I'm sorry if I seem weird, I don't really know what's come over me. You just look really nice, like the way the sun comes through the trees and onto your eyes, it kinda makes them glisten, I wasn't like this earlier...I think i've had too much of those berries you picked yesterday. I mean, not saying you tried to poison me or anything.' He said.
I just laughed. He stared at me for a while. I looked down at the floor, kinda self conscious.
'Why are you looking at me?' I whispered, eyes still on the floor.
'Coz you're beauti-' He stopped. I looked up quickly, he put his hands over his mouth.
'Sorry, I-I didn't mean to say that!' He said. 'I mean, You are beautiful.. but I didn't want to make you uncomfortable and I keep wittering on but I can't shut myself up and you probably hate me but-' I cut him off.
'Why would I hate you?' I asked. He looked at me, sadly. He sighed.
'This might ruin our friendship and I don't want that at all.' He whispered.
I frowned. 'What is it?' I asked.
'W-well ever since the first time I saw you, I-I..' He stuttered.
'You?' I encouraged him.
'I had a completely massive crush on you but please don't hate me coz I can't help it!' He blurted out.
The world seemed to stop.
He actually liked me?
It felt like all the air had been punched out my stomach, but In a kind of, happy and relieved way....
