Chapter 4.
VIC'S POV
I was awoken by quiet growls. My eyes shot open. This was the sound of a Walker. I leapt up, grabbing my knife, ready to fight.I suddenly realised that there was no walker. The source of the sound was Jaime's stomach rumbling. I laughed at my stupidity and walked over to the food hole, which is a small hole we dug in the dirt, we stored our food there.
'Shit.' I muttered as I saw that all we had left was a few berries and a squirrel tail. Dread hit the pit of my stomach as I realised what this meant. It meant we had to leave this cliff, and go back down to ground level, meaning we would inevitably come across walkers.
I sighed and sat down, watching the guys sleep. We used to have a night watch person that would stay awake to protect us if a walker came but when none came for a month, we gave up.
Jaimes stomach growled again, so I got up and started chopping the squirrels tail up into quarters and added a few berries to it.
'Guys.' I said. No one moved. 'Guys!' I yelled. Alex and Tony's eyes squinted open. 'Afternoon.' I said sarcastically.
Technically, I had no idea what time it was but I knew it wasn't early morning. Jaime still snored on. I walked over to him and slapped his cheek softly. He groaned and opened his eyes.
We sat in silence munching on our food. It defiantly didn't taste good, but I was so hungry I didn't care.
'Umm, guys.' I said, nervously. They looked up. 'W-we have no food left.' I said. I could see Alex's eyes dull.
Jaime scratched the back of his head. 'I Guess we'll just h-have to go back down t-there.' He stuttered. I nodded. My stomach was doing butterflies. Last time, we nearly all died.
KELLIN'S POV
'Kellin!' My mom screamed, kicking my door. I shoved another chair against it and cleared up the gash she just made in my face with a baby wipe. 'Kellin, get out here you little piece of shit!' She screeched. I cowered in the corner as she kicked the door down, sending the chair skidding across my room.
She smiled sinisterly. 'Get over here.' She whispered. I tried to shrink my self in the corner, hoping I'd get smaller and disappear. She chuckled then sent her fist to my face, making my head smack to the side.I shot up. Just a dream. I'd have flashbacks like this regularly. I looked around and saw Mike looking at me, worried.
'Are you okay?' He asked.
I nodded, making sure to not let my guard down, I couldn't let them know I was scared of my own mom.'Y-you were kinda crying.' He said.
Shit.
I sat in silence for a second, trying to think of an excuse.
'It's fine, I do too sometimes.' He said.
Of course, his parents died.I smiled at him sympathetically.
'I'm gunna go looking for food.' I said, leaving the awkward situation.
'Don't be too long.' He called out.
I grabbed my knife and walked off.VIC'S POV
The walk down the cliff was exhausting. We hadn't came across anything or anyone yet.We walked over to the edge of the forest. My gaze shot over to something on the ground.
'Whose body do you think that is?' Tony asked, grimacing.
I sighed. 'I just hope it's not anyone we know.' I muttered, walking over to the body.
They were laying face down on the floor, they had various different bite and claw marks over their body. I rolled them over with my foot.
I gasped. 'Ray.' I whispered.
As much as I hated the guy, It was hard seeing him like this.
Tony looked around warily. 'We should go.' He said.
I nodded and grabbed the gun in Ray's lifeless hand. 'This may be helpful.' I said, chucking it over to Jaime.
We walked through the forest, looking out for any signs of movement. I could hear Alex's shaky breath, I knew he really didn't want to go back into the place his best friend was killed.
Jaime laced his fingers with his and whispered, 'you'll be fine.'
A snap of a twig made me turn round, reaching for my knife.
Alex whimpered slightly as he saw the Walker hobbling towards us.
'Don't use the gun, it will attract more.' I whispered to Jaime, who then put the gun down. I walked over to it slowly.
It beared it teeth, showing bits of chewed up skin and blood. I crinkled my nose up, this one really fucking stank.
'Okay you little bastard.' I growled and plunged the knife into its head. It didn't even try to fight me.
It fell to the ground, shaking slightly, then it stopped moving all together.
Alex stood there, wide eyed.
'K, lets go before anymore come.' I said, and we walked on.
We kept walking, finding a few rabbits and squirrels on the way, which would keep us going for a while.
We where just about to turn back to the cliff, where it was safe, when I heard footsteps.
Jaime heard them to. He had frozen the spot.
I dared my self to turn around. I couldn't see anyone. 'Hello?' I called out.
A loud snap came from behind a tree and something flung it's self onto me.
I was about to pull my dagger out when I heard 'oh my god! Oh my god!' In my ear.
Have we just found an actual Human! I thought to myself.
I pulled away and there he was.
A human.But even better...
We had come across Kellin.
He looked a bit shocked at himself.
'Sorry, I haven't seen any other humans since me and my group left.' He said
'W-wait. There are others?' I asked.
A massive smile appeared on his face.
'Oh my god. I forgot. Vic Fuentes!' He said, yelling my surname.
'Umm yes?'
'Fuentes.' He repeated.
I looked at him, confused.
'You're gunna love this.' He smiled, and beckoned for us to follow.
