Ruby opened Garnets door and looked at her with a sigh. "Garnet?" "Yea?" Garnet poked her head out of the cover and looked at Ruby. "Are you going to school?" "I don't feel like it today.." "What about your friend Pearl?" "She'll call if she needs me." "You wanna take a ride with me real fast?" Garnet got up and put some pants on with another tank top that was red with a yellow star. "Sure..why not." The two walked out of her room passing the cracked door. Garnet looked inside and saw Sapphire laying in the bed sleep. "Is mom ok?" Garnet asked opening the truck door. "Yea, she's fine." Ruby said starting the truck. She backed up and drove off kind of fast. "What happened?" Ruby looked at Garnet and shook her head. "You shouldn't worry about that." "Well I am. What happened?" "Nothing." "Mom what happened?" "Nothing." "You're leaving again aren't you?" Garnet watched as her mother gripped the steering wheel tighter and sat up. "I thought you said you took a vacation!" "Garnet! Its not like that!" "Then why'd you yell back!? Why did you go around hitting things! I was so happy when you came back I thought you could actually change for us but you didn't!" "Didn't change-!? I changed for you and your mother I wouldn't do anything to hurt you two and you know it, my job is really important and it keeps you two in the house with lights!" "You promised! You always promise when it's 'vacation' time, mom is always worried sick about you and she never gets to see you! You lied again!"  "Garnet-!" Garnet watched as Ruby slammed on the brakes trying to avoid a deer in the road. She swerved off of the road trying to keep the truck steady. Ruby tried unbuckling herself so she could protect her from the glass that shattered as the truck flipped over and rolled down the hill.

Garnet opened her eyes and looked around, she saw the truck on fire and her mother limping towards her. Garnet felt her head and looked at her hand looking at the blood on it. "Mo-" The car blew up behind Ruby making her fly back into a tree. "Mom!" Garnet said covering her face from the flames. She got up and ran over to ignoring the pain in her face and legs, she kneeled by Rubys side and checked for her pulse. "Mom open your eyes." Ruby slowly opened her eyes and looked at Garnet like she was out of it. "I'm not going down like this don't worry.." She said putting her thumb up. "Can you please just...keep your eyes open for me." Garnet panicked at her silence and shook her a bit. "Mom?" She looked up at two people standing at the top of the hill one on the phone, and one yelling out something. She heard sirens and looked at the ambulance as it drowned out the person calling out got them. Mom??" Garnet started to cry a bit when she couldn't feel her heat as much. "Open your eyes..." "Hurry! I see one on the ground!" The paramedics ran to Garnets side and started working on Ruby. "Come on sweetie I need you to come with me." One of the paramedics said helping Garnet up the hill to the ambulance. "Are you hurt anywhere?" "Forget about me just please help my mom! I'm fine just please!" "She's getting all the help we can give." Garnet watched as they rushed her mom in another ambulance and took off. "Let's go! We need to get there quickly!" The medic said closing the doors as they took off.

*one hospital trip later*

Garnet watched as they operated on her mom from the window crying softly to herself. "Garnet!?" She looked at Sapphire still crying and hugged her tightly as she ran over to her. "Are you okay"I'm fine-! B-but-" Garnet bursted out in tears unable to speak. Sapphire held her closer and rubbed her back holding back her tears. "She's going to be ok Sweetheart." Sapphire looked inside and looked at all the equipment Ruby was hooked up to. "She's strong you know that..." "Mrs. Sapphire." Sapphire let Garnet go and lifted her head up. "Keep your chin up sweetie you know your mom hates when you cry." Sapphire walked off with the doctor and stood there with a calming face. Garnet looked back at her hospitalized mother and put her head up. "Stay strong...stay strong just like you always told me." Sapphire walked back over to Garnet and stared at Ruby letting out a heavy sigh. "She's going to be out for a while." Garnet stood there with guilt rising up inside of her and bit her lip trying not to cry again. "Its my fault.." "Your fault?" "I was fussing at her...making her angry because of what happened last night. I just wanted her to change like she promised she would..." "Garnet, you shouldn't have to worry about that you should only worry about getting out of school and protecting the ones you love and find dear. Me and your mother can handle what goes on between us you know that." "Im sorry...I just want things to be how they were when I was little." Sapphire got quiet for a bit then put her head down. "We love you so much Garnet, you go through so much yet you still manage to show a ray of hope." Garnet smiled at her mother and held her hand. "You'll never progress forward if your sad all the time." Sapphire looked In her daughters eyes and saw the shattered pieces inside of her. "I'll stay strong if you promise to stay strong." Sapphire said sitting up smiling. "Deal." Garnet looked back and watched the nurses come out. "You're allowed to go in now." "Is she responsive?" Garnet asked quickly turning around. "Just a little." "Thank you!" Garnet walked in and looked at Ruby. "Mom?" Ruby looked at Garnet and gave her a faint smile. "Hey sweetie...!" "How are you feeling?" "I've been better but you know things happen..." "I'm sorry I yelled at you. Its my fault you're like this." "No its not Garnet its not your fault you did what was right. I was in the wrong for making Sapphire cry and being careless about how you felt about our past relationship. I just wanted you to know that I really did change as soon as you realized what I was doing and I saw how it affected you I stopped..I stopped cause I want you to see that there's more to life than unnecessary anger." Garnet grabbed the white sheet and looked away. "Hey now you know I hate crying." "I know... That's why I'm not doing it." Ruby lightly grabbed Garnets face and smiled at her. "I'm not going to leave you two behind and you know that." "You promise?" "I promise." Garnet gave Ruby a hug and waved goodbye as she walked out. "So..?" Sapphire said starting the car. "I apologized for my mistakes." "And she did her original thing?" "As always." Garnet said chuckling a bit.
She felt a small relief as she stood next to her mother. Maybe everything will be ok.
