Chapter 10 | Touch

Quickly, I ran into the room without a second thought and my eyes fell on the rose again. It was beautiful and I stood, still transfixed by its beauty, when I heard footsteps outside the room.

“Oh.” The voice paused. “Where could she be?” He spoke, as if he was taunting me and my eyes widened as I looked at the close door.

“Maybe she is in this room.” He said and my heart raced, anticipating the moment he bursts in the room and carves out my eyeballs.

“Nah.” The voice said. “She is not here.”

I breathed a sigh of relief and suddenly the door bursted open and I screamed like I was going to live today. I tried to think of an escape route but his arms had circled and he had backed me against the wall, covering my mouth with his hand as he muffled my screams.

I breathed up and down, trying to calm my racing heart and he grinned a victorious grin. “Gotcha!”

“I can’t hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.” I said, behind his hand, my words becoming muffled.

“What?” He said, still grinning. “I didn’t getcha.”

Just as I was about to reply, a bright purple light filled the room and both of us turned to look at the rose. It was shining brightly, emanating bright purple. It was glittering in the sunlight from the window and my eyes widened at its beauty.

Jack removed his hand from mine and pulled away, looking at the rose in confusion. The moment he stepped away from me, the purple light dimmed down and it vanished.

“What was that all about?” I asked, holding his chin to make him look at me. The second my hand touched his chin, the purple light filled the room again and both of us turned to look at the rose again. The rose turned a shade purple and I removed my hand from his chin, confused by the light. The purple vanished as I dropped my hand towards my sides.

“Shit.” Jack cursed under his breath and looked at me, with shock as if realisation had hit him hard.

“What is it?” I asked, still confused and he muttered a number of colorful words under his breath, making me want to cover my ears.

“What is wrong? Can you please tell me what is going on?” I asked frantically and he turned away, and started walking towards the door. I was getting annoyed and I needed answers. I pulled on his arm, making him look at me. Once again, the purple light filled the room again and this time it was so bright and strong.

Jack looked at me with a new found determination and something else, before he shook his hand away from me. The purple light illuminating from the rose went away again.

“Can you please tell me what is going on?” I asked, almost shouting because curiousity was eating me alive.

“You need to leave.” He said, gritting his teeth and his words only fuelled my anger.

“What is wrong with you?” I asked. “First you tell me to stay, and then you tell me to leave?” I asked angrily.

He growled, and anger was radiating off of him. “Now, I am telling you to leave so fucking leave!”

“No!” I said, shouting, frustrated from his mood swings. “You can’t make me leave.”

“I said Leave!” He shouted, backing me against the wall, his body was pressed up tight against me and the purple light filled the whole room, making his face purple and everything purple.

“Make me!” I shouted back, equally angry and our faces were inches away, both of us breathing heavily and painting from the immense fury.

“I will kill you.” He said, his voice lethal and low, goosebumps tickled my skin.

“You won’t.” I said, confidently and gave him a bright smile.

“Are you under-estimating me?” He asked. “Do you know who I am? I am the beast. The beast that killed people just for the fun of it.”

For a moment, I felt fear because what he said was completely and utterly true. But, for some strong reason, I knew deep inside that I was important to him. I didn’t know why I felt that way, but I knew that he needed me.

“You won’t kill me.” I said, narrowing my eyes at him mockingly.

“Yes. I will.”

“No.”

“Yes.”

“No.”

“Yes.”

“No!”

“Yes!”

“N—”

“YE—”

“NO!”

“YES!”

“STOP IT!”

I shouted. “I fucking hate you!” I shouted.

“The feeling’s fucking mutual you annoying littl—”

“I am annoying?” I asked, clutching my chest as If I got hurt. “You are the annoying one here. Infact, you are annoying, your face is annoying. Your body is annoying, everything about you is annoying!”

“Shut your pretty little mouth before I kiss you and shut you up.” He growled and I immediately shut up. A heavy blush filled my cheeks.

He said my mouth is pretty...

“God, you are so annoying.” He muttered under his breath, with a frown on his face.

“I—”

“I said shut up.”

“—am not annoying. You ar—” I gasped, when he leaned forward, his lips were inched away from mine and I knew he was teasing me, making me shut up and it worked. I was afraid he was going to kiss me and the tension in the air was so heavy and my heart was racing so fast I was sure he could feel it against his chest.

“Ok, I will shut u—”

His lips crashed mine, silencing me and I wanted to pull away but there was wall  behind me and his body was pressed up against mine, and I couldn’t move away, as I tried to wriggle out of the kiss. An idea popped into my mind and I pulled my knee up, kicking him in the place where the sun doesn’t shine and he growled into the kiss, making shivers go down my spine. I could feel his smirk and I became annoyed that it wasn’t painful enough.

His tongue pushed his way into my mouth and I gave in, kissing his back. Only then, I realised, how much intoxicating the kiss was. I started circling my hands around his neck, pulling him closer and he growled again, his smirk getting wider and I felt goosebumps erupt on my skin. The way his lips moved against mine was so intoxicating and I have never been kissed this way before.

It was so beautiful and I wanted more. More than this right now. More touch. More warmth. Not one kiss had made me think this way before and I couldn’t help but hold him tighter. The world around us was forgotten and I felt his hands holding mine tightly, up against the wall.

He pulled away and I almost whimpered at the loss, wanting more. His lips were inches away from mine and both of were breathing heavily as our breath mingled, binding as one. Soon enough, a wide grin replaced his features and he pressed his lips to mine again, and this time I let him kiss me.
