"Y/N?" His tired and husky voice says your name through the phone.

"T-Taiga..."

"What happened?" You hear him immediately wake up at the sound of your broken and stuttering voice.

"He did it again."

That's all you needed to say.

"You can't keep letting him do this to you." He growls.

"He said he's sorry... and that he loves me." You whimper.

"Where this time?" He asks softly.

"My face."

"Jesus Christ." He breathes out.

You imagine him rubbing his tired eyes in his bed and the thought brings a ghost of a smile to your sore face.

"Go to the police." He demands.

"I-I can't. He loves me."

"Y/N, listen to yourself. He hits you, he hurts you and he cheats on you. He doesn't love you."

"He only does it because he's angry. It's okay, I'm fine. We're in love."

"Holy shit, he's messed you up so bad. Y/N. He doesn't love you." He pleads to make you understand but you only sigh.

"H-He'll be home any minute now. I should probably go." You whisper.

"How do you feel?"

"Scared."

"That's not how you're supposed to feel when the one you love is coming home. Listen to me, Y/N. Get on a plane. Come to Japan. Come live with me, please. You're only still with him because you have nowhere to live. I'm giving you an alternative. Please, get away from him."

"His car just pulled up. I should go."

He holds you close to him as you sob into his arms. You're on the floor in the middle of the airport, spasm crying in the arms of your best friend but you couldn't care less.

"Shh, shh. It's okay, you're with me now. You'll never have to see that abusive bastard again." Kagami runs his hand through your hair as a million different emotions run through your brain.

You feel happy, sad, confused.

"He broke me so much. I-I can't..."

Kagami rocks you back and forth as his eyes tear up from seeing you in such a vulnerable state.

This man took the beautiful, happy girl Kagami once knew and changed her into a destroyed, broken girl who forgot what it's like to feel truly loved.

"I've got you, okay?" He whispers into your hair.

The Serin basketball team accompanied their ace to welcome his girl to Japan. They had no idea that this would happen, let alone that they would cry hearing your heartbreaking story about abuse. They were all there for you and you didn't even know them.

Strangers walk past with wide eyes seeing you collapsed on the floor in Kagami's strong arms.

"I'm here. I have always and will always be here." He doesn't need to say anything else. He holds you tight in his embrace and you had never felt so at home.

Your entire body shakes and matches speed with your uncontrollable sobs.

Nothing in the entire world can seperate you two now.

"Can you stand?" He asks you. You sniff.

He feels your small, fragile shaking body try to move against his. Without waiting for any type of response, he hoists you off your feet and carries you bridal style.

His friends grab your luggage without a word.
"I'm Hyuuga. We're Kagami's teammates." He nods and you smile lightly.

"T-Thank you." You choke out. He nods again and Kagami carries you to the car.

All of the boys, and girl, note the left side of your face is bruised and battered. They don't say anything about it.

"We are gathered here today to witness the union of Y/N and Kagami Taiga." You smile brightly. The officiant smiles at both of you young love birds. "Because despite all of our differences, love is what we all share. It's the great unifier — our one universal truth. That no matter who we are, where we've come from, what we believe, we know this one thing: love is what we're doing right. That's why you both are standing here. That's why you all are here to watch them stand up here. We have all loved in our lifetimes, and in this moment, we're reminded that the ability to love is the very best part of our humanity." The officiant says.

"Hyuuga! A-Are you crying!?"

"NO! There's just something in my eyes. Don't be rid-dic-c-ulous!" He sobs.

You love Kagami, he is your one. The one who changed your life, the one who took you in when you were at your worst, the one who healed you, the one who held you when you collapsed and the one who guided you through life. Without a doubt, if you had never met him, you would be dead by now.

As Kagami guides you through the door and into his apartment, you can't help but feel as though your life has been given a new meaning.

I wonder what the world has in store for me now. I was hurt again and again and again. Only, now I'm with Kagami. He saved me.

He picked up every broken and shattered piece of me and one by one put me back together. There's always hope. All you have to do is look.
