Emma's POV
I had to break up with Zack. We just weren't working. With him being my math teacher, and not being able to see him, it just wasn't working.
The bell rang for class to be over, but I stayed behind.
"Zack, can we talk about something?"
He erased the board. "Sure."
"So, I'm going to make this quick, because I have to go to my next class, but, I'm breaking up with you."
He dropped the chalk he was holding on the ground. "Why?"
I sighed. "We just aren't working, okay? I never see you, and this class is awkward as hell, and I can't focus on what I'm doing, and it's just not working!"
"So you think breaking up is the answer? Now it's going to be even more awkward!"
"Bye, Zack," I said and walked out the door.
He was being so selfish about this. I was just stating why I wanted to beak up, and it wasn't personal, just my opinion. I stopped at my locker then headed off to Miz's class.
"Emma, what do you have to say for yourself?" He asked me as I walked in the door.
Of course, my meeting with Zack had ran over time and now I was late.
"Sorry, I needed help with my math homework."
Dana Brooke laughed at me. "Yeah, she needs help alright."
She was my best friend and I loved her, but she had no idea what I just went through. At least she still had a boyfriend.
"Whatever, just take your seat." Miz instructed.
I sat down behind Dana and listened to the Miz lecture on and on. He was talking about how Brock Lesnar broke the streak a few years back, in honor of Wrestlemania being in a few weeks. That was our huge end of the year thing, and then it would be summer, finally. It was scary to think that next year I'd be a senior.
The bell rang for class to be over, and I wanted to walk home with Dana. I had to talk to someone about my broken relationship with Zack.
I waited for her by her locker. She was with Karl and he held her books as she got in her locker. I walked out behind them, and after they kissed goodbye and I caught up with her.
"Dana, hey."
She turned around. "Emma!"
"Are you free to talk?"
She headed towards her car. "Sure."
"Can I ride home with you?" I asked.
She nodded and I got in.
"So, what did you want to talk about?"
I sighed. "I broke up with Zack."
She turned to face me. "Aw, I'm sorry."
I nodded. "It was what I had to do. The relationship just wasn't working, and I think it's because I was his student, and we never got to see each other."
She turned around the corner. "I think you did the right thing."
"It's just, he was my first boyfriend and I really liked him."
"Did you sleep with him?"
I shook my head. "No, never."
"Well, that's good, now you don't have to feel so bad about breaking up with him."
