Chapter 42: Say "I do"

"I've uhm.... I just want to make an announcement." I started. "So far so good." Temari said. "My name is Sasuke Uchiha. Only standing member of the Uchiha clan. My entire life, I had grown to think I'd never come out to anything." I said. One day, about five or six years ago, we were assigned to teams. What was supposed to be a three man team, became a four man team with the help of a transfer student." I said, nervously pacing back and forth. I saw Kakashi look at Azamuku and smile then turn back to me. "It took some getting used to, having someone who was stronger, faster, and smarter than me." I said, grinning.

"But when I did, I began to get feelings that I wasn't familiar with at all. This 13 year old girl taught me what it was to love and care as well as forced me to learn about team effort and team work. She knew I hated being shown up but yet she did it anyway to help me learn." I confessed, feeling more relaxed. I looked at Sakura and talked. "Being outdone like that made me say to myself 'Quit standing around! Don't let her do this to you!' and I began putting everything I could into training." I saw Sakura jump away after nodding to me and I turned my focus back on everyone else. "One day, a guy who I dare say is my best friend told me to take the leap and ask her out." I said, getting shy again. "I'd like to point out that his way of asking me out was 'Will you.... Uhm... like to... go... out...? Or whatever?' and it took him 3 times to clearly say what he meant as in going out." Azamuku said, earning a giggle from everyone.

"Shut up." I said blushing and looking away, embarrassed. "Follow your own advice, ya dunce." She said, grinning. "Anyway!" I said blushing more. "I asked her out and she said yes... And then I-" I said. Sakura came running in, cutting me off. "Sasuke! It's Naruto!" She said, running back outside. "I tried to get him to calm down but he wouldn't! That Akatsuki guy started it!" She said. Perfect. I grinned, watching Azamuku run outside. "DEIDARA!" She screamed. "Sorry, Muku. Old habits die hard. And this one's dying very, VERY hard." He said.

I quietly ran outside and listened to them scream at each other. Standing there, I glanced at Temari in the door way who nodded and mouthed for me to go ahead. "I won't let you stand in my way. If I have to kill you, I will." Deidara said as he disappeared. I got down on one knee, pulling the small box from my waist line and opening it as I looked up at her. "Where the hell did he go..." She growled. "AZAMUKU! BEHIND YOU!" Sakura shouted, her voice filled with makeshift fear.

She spun around only to find him pointing down at me. She looked down, taking a second to process what was happening. "Oh my god!!!!!!!!!" She screamed and covered her face, walking away a bit. Naruto smiled and guided her back towards me. "Azamuku..." I began. "Will you do this dunce the honor of becoming his bride?" I asked, trying to control my shaking.

Her eyes filled with tears as she nodded. I stood up and smiled. "Muku... I..." I started getting cut off by her. "Shut the hell up you idiot." She said, pulling close and kissing me. "Katsu!" Deidara said, exploding several clay birds wave after wave to create fireworks. Everyone around us clapped as I put the ring on her finger. Her gasp as she looked at it told me everything I needed to know. "Sasuke. It's beautiful." She said, looking from the ring to me. "Only the best for Lady Uchiha." I said, locking our fingers together and kissing her again. "Happy birthday, Muku." I said, placing my forehead to hers. I felt Temari stop and stare followed by Kankuro and Gaara.

"Thank you." Azamuku said with a smile. "Really. I mean it. Thank you. All of you. This has been the best birthday ever." She announced. Kakashi landed on the rooftop of one of the buildings. "Hey guys! Ichiraku is still open! I'll treat ya!" He said, pulling his mask down. "And I'll keep the mask off." He said. Azamuku looked back at the sand siblings who were all smiling as they nodded. "Count me in!" She shouted. "Alright! Let's go!" Naruto shouted. "I'll be back tomorrow, guys! Thanks for the party!" She shouted as we all ran off.
