I can remember it like it was yesterday.
I was walking in the forest with my brother. He's so nice, always there for me. I mean, he's my twin, not just brother. I remember the slightly orange-brown leaves slowly falling from the trees. It was such a lovely day, why did this have to happen? It was first just a rustle in the bush, then it got louder. And louder, and closer. I grabbed my brother's arm, I was so scared. A face poked out from the bushes, but it wasn't human. It's features drooped, wrinkled and baggy. It's skin was a sickly pale grey. It's lower jaw hung loosely from it's face, with ripped cheeks stained with blood that should've been black, but it wasn't. The same black liquid dripped onto the floor. It's mouth opened and a horrible noise came out. It pierced my ears, like static from the old TV in the loft. I covered my ears, closed my eyes tightly, and screamed. My brother grabbed onto me, standing in front of me to protect me. I wrapped my arms around him and snuggled my head into his back. I was so scared in that moment. I thought I was going to die. The noise stopped. The creature vanished. I screamed and cried my eyes out. That's when I felt it. A stinging pain in the back of my neck. A slash noise. I stopped screaming as my breath caught in my throat. I felt blood run down my neck, onto the back of my dress. My grip on my brother loosened and I fell back. I hit the ground with a thud. My brother turned around immediately and gasped. Tears ran down his face and he crouched next to me.
"No, no! Please, no, not like this!" He propped me up and lay a hand over the cut on my neck. It stung, but the bleeding stopped a bit. "Not like this, you can't die now!" He was sobbing so much, it pained me to see him sad. He was never sad. Never ever. I gave him a weak smile, and he smiled back.
"I'll be okay." I said in a croaky voice. Suddenly, a white hand appeared and grabbed my brother's neck. I tried to scream, but I couldn't. It pushed him against a tree, and he just stayed there, tears soaking his face, bruises forming on his neck. His eyes wide, staring at me. He was in so much shock. The creature moved over to me. It showed its other hand, nails long, thin and sharp. They were so sharp. It walked over to me, and the last thing I remember was a pain that I've never experienced before. Then pressure, then darkness.
I remember waking up in the same forest. I couldn't speak. My vision was blurry, as if an overlay of static was over my eyes. I looked at my hands and they were the same pale grey. I felt a liquid stream down my face, and on to my hands. The liquid was black and thick, like blood. Like the blood that dripped from the creature's face. I remember seeing a little girl with a red raincoat running along the forest path. I remember her. I remember who she is. I remember. She was my brother's best friend.
