"Harder."
"That's disgusting."
"Hit me harder dammit." Jason grumbled, his arms open, prepared for the blow.
I rolled my eyes. "Just don't say it like that anymore." I threw my fist at his abs with more force than before, a satisfying thump coming from the contact.
"Stop," Jason took a step away from me. "Put less energy into winding back the arm and more into making contact. Make sure you're putting your whole weight into it too, not just your arm."
I roll my eyes, cracking my knuckles. "I've been doing this a while I know how to punch, this isn't Vigilantism 101, this is, like, AP Vigilantism so start teaching me things I don't know." I took a swig from my water bottle.
"It's the little things that matter that you don't have. Of course I want this to be AP Vigilantism but it's like you don't know anything, we're back to square one.
I scoffed. "I don't know anything? Last time I checked, almost every time we go against each other, I win."
"Because I'm going easy on you, I'm fighting you as Jason, not Sonic Boom." He says matter of factly.
"I'm not going to learn anything if I'm fighting against people worse than me." I said challengingly.
He shook his head. "Madisyn, I don't think you're ready to fight Sonic."
I crossed my arms. "We'll see about that."
"Alright," he sighed. "you're asking for it-"
I threw my entire weight into the punch I struck to his gut, he wasn't expecting it and grunted out in pain. I swung my foot up to kick him in the balls but he grabbed my ankle before I could make contact, gripping the rest of my leg which caused me to fall to the ground.
"Shit." I seethed, holding my ankle. "That was my bad leg."
He squatted down. "That's what I was going for."
I scoffed and flexed my knee before standing back up again, a pain shooting up through my leg, but I didn't let him know that.
"Word of advice, never kick. Your leg is too vulnerable because you're not fast enough. No kicking until later, that's a whole different lesson."
"See, with Sonic I actually learn." I snap, clamping my teeth down hard on my cheek to mask the throbbing in my leg.
"With Sonic you get hurt so we are going back to training with Jason, so sorry."
"Hurt is in the package." I protested. "Come on, I challenge you to a rematch and I'm going to win."
He chuckled. "No."
"Why?" I crossed my arms. "This is the most fighting I've done in weeks of working with you. Are you scared I'm gonna beat you?" I smile proudly.
"No, I'm scared you won't be able to walk home by the time we're done." He turned around and headed towards his duffel bag.
I started walking towards him and broke into a run before skidding to the ground, knocking out his legs.
He landed on his butt, the sound like bricks being dropped onto the ground echoing through the warehouse. Jason cursed under his breath, jumping to his feet.
I went to go kick him but decided to punch him up the side of his head inside. He avoided it narrowly and sidestepped, staying alert for the next attack. His nostrils flared as he bolted towards me. I stepped to the side and expected him to keep charging towards the wall, but he quickly changed directions which caught me off guard, leaving him an opportunity to dive into my stomach.
