"I have proof."

"You have an uneventful tape and that's no real evidence."

I grumbled, my thumb clicking my pen furiously. "I have proof-"

"Goodbye, Ms. Sharpe." A beeping sounded over the phone and I hung up angrily.

"Madisyn, what are you still doing here?" Aubrey hissed at me, holding a towel over her naked body. "You're supposed to be at city hall right now."

"I'm not going." I grumbled, clicking through Logan's evidence and finding nothing substantial that would land Owen in jail.

"The new mayor is being sworn in and you're on the council."

"Being on the council doesn't matter anymore because Forbes is dead. The only reason I was on the council was because of Forbes and nobody has to listen to me anymore because I'm not his charity case anymore." I mutter, continuing to sulk through the evidence.

She sighed. "You're grieving, I get it, but it's been a week, you have to let go."

"I've let go." I affirmed, leaning back and considering the evidence from a distance.

"No, you haven't. You have been sitting at that computer for three days like Logan and if you keep this up I'm going to have to dump you like I did him."

I rolled my eyes, dismissing her comment. "I've called every department in the city and nobody will investigate Owen." I put my head in my hands. "We don't have enough. I need more. I need to catch him in the act-"

"Madisyn," She sat down next to me on the couch. "know that I love you when I say this, but you need to shut the hell up and calm down. You can't solve all of the problems in the world and I keep trying to tell you this but you don't listen. You will get him eventually. I know that he killed the mayor and you want to end this all now but-"

"What do you want me to do, Aubrey? Sit around and wait for him to bomb city hall? His last words were 'Make this city great again'. I'm not going to wait for my moment, I need to take action and I know that you're worried about me but I'm not killing anyone, I'm not going through extreme amounts of pain to get there-"

"Not physical pain but you're stressed and jumpy and finding Hypothermia is your whole life right now. God, Logan is rubbing off on you and I don't want to lose you like I lost him." Tears gathered in her eyes.

I sighed, finally realizing what this was about. "You're not going to lose me."

"That's what he said to me but look what happened." She put her head in her hands. "I love him."

I sighed. "Love isn't perfect. You want it to be. You think that his world is going to revolve around you because yours is around him but it obviously didn't. Both of you needed to make sacrifices for the other person which means you need to let him have some time with his computer and he needs to let you have some time with him. Sometimes all you need is a little space, and that's obviously what you and Logan needed. If you want it to work, just tell him that."

She took a deep breath. "I guess you're right." She chewed on her lip, considering her hands with knotted brows. "I should go over there and make up with him. Just not now." She sunk further into the couch, picking up the remote. "Now would you like to sacrifice some Aubrey time since I sacrificed not being right for once?" She raised an eyebrow at me.
