Hound is staring at me again.
This time, she had her arm in a sling and a bandage on her head, looking more pissed than ever.
More fun for me.
I try to eat my dinner silently, without making eye contact, but can't help glance at her every so often to make sure everyone at her table stays at her table.
I haven't seen Pixie all day, which makes me think she's ignoring me, is in court, or visiting someone who is giving her drugs, but I had to say, I kind of missed her. It was nice to have someone here that didn't hate you.
But maybe now she did hate me because of the fact I was Voltage.
I still can't believe what Jason said yesterday. Not guilty?! I mean, he was a good lawyer, but I didn't think he was good to the point where he could change facts. I don't know how he is going to pull it off, but as long as I'm getting out of this clean, I don't really care.
But as much as I trust him, I'm worried what will happen if somewhere along the way he is either discovered to be Sonic Boom or caught lying and/or tampering with evidence (if he went that far). Wasn't it illegal to lie in court? If we're caught, I could go in for more than I had in the first place. It was either going to be a huge victory, or a massive fail. There didn't seem to be any safe middle ground.
I hadn't seen Jason since yesterday, but it felt like ages. Time passed differently in here.
A shrill bell rung throughout the cafeteria, signaling the end of dinner.
"Recess, bitches!" One of Hound's friends screamed as they started out a metal door held open by a guard.
I probably wouldn't have gone out if I didn't miss the sun so much.
It was so stuffy sitting inside all day. I mostly hang around my cell, not talking to anyone as I read some book I found in the library. It wasn't really my type, but that's because I didn't get past the nonfiction section in fear I would get raped by the girls hanging around the back. (Ok, I have a confession to make. Prison isn't really as awful as I make it out to be, and most (most) of the girls aren't rapists, I'm just overreacting because I'm scared shitless and have nothing better to do than worry)
Reluctantly, I went outside, even though I knew Hound would be staring me down the whole time, I didn't care, I really wanted air.
Sitting out on that rusty old bench, listening to the constant thump of basketballs on the pavement, drinking in the fresh air, was the closest thing I had to freedom. I just wanted to run through the park again, Aubrey laughing behind me as I went, calling me names as I burst through the trees, doing a happy dance after winning. I wanted to go back to training with Jason just for him to kick my ass then buy me coffee after. I just wanted to be home on the couch with Logan watching movies and eating pizza and forgetting that everything else existed. I wanted to smell the greasy slice of happiness and feel Logan's hand in mine and look into his tawny eyes and feel okay again.
"What are you thinking about?"
I snapped out of my daydreaming and looked over to see Pixie sitting next to me, blinking at me with her big aqua eyes.
"I haven't seen you all day. Where were you?"
She grumbled, looking down at her hands. "Boyfriend. Professing his love for me, promising to get me out, then at the end of the visit he asks where I stashed my hell dust." She shook her head, laughing. "Drugs mess you up, man." She faced me on the bench, crossing her legs. "Why? You missed me?" She grinned, flashing her perfect teeth as she pulled out a box of cigarettes and some matches.
