Caleb and I were halfway through the bottle when I suddenly felt the urge to dance. I was only a little tipsy but I knew it wouldn't be long till I felt the vodka a bit more. We put the bottle back in the freezer and I grabbed Caleb's hand and moved into the living room where everyone was dancing.
'I like that' just started playing and it got me in the happiest mood.
Caleb and I were dancing and he kept coming closer and closer towards me. I was kinda, sorta grinding on him and we were just looking at each other for a few seconds before his head started moving towards mine. I knew what was about to happen, I could feel his breath on my lips....
I closed my eyes waiting for it to happen....
And it didn't.
I opened my eyes and I was literally scared for my life. My brother was standing there holding Caleb by the neck of his shirt, looking like he was gonna kill at least one of us by the end of the night.
'What the fucks going on around here?' he yelled.
Everyone around us stopped what they were doing to watch.
'J bro, it's not what you think,' Caleb tried to explain, 'we weren't going to do anything I swear. I would never touch your sister bro.'
'What a fucking load of bullshit Caleb. You were about to kiss her!' J yelled in Calebs ear.
'And you.' He said glaring at me.
'J, please, it's seriously not what you think, we just had a little too much vodka ok?!' I spoke quietly.
'Then what DO I think, dear sister? That you and Caleb were practising for the school play? Fuck off. You're going home.' J said maliciously.
I've had enough of this shit.
'What kind of bullshit is that J? Caleb and I have done absolutely nothing wrong. I let you hook up with chicks all the fucken time! How would you feel if I done this to you? Huh? Fuck you J I'm staying and don't think for a second you can make a punching bag out of Caleb.'
J really pissed me off. I don't take that kind of shit lying down.
I mean, I'm 16! Nearly an adult!
And I am most definitely more mature than he is, even if he's older than me.
And I know right at this moment I'm lying to him, but I do have the right to my own life, he can't control me. It's so unfair.
'What the fuck does it even matter to you what happens to Caleb?' he answers, 'Do you like him or something?'
'No,' I think I just saw a flash of hurt in Caleb's eyes but it was gone faster than it appeared. 'But he is your best friend J, you'll regret it. Please just let it go.' I pleaded to my brother.
'Fine. But if I catch you two this close again, I won't be so lenient.' J let go of Caleb's shirt and walked away.
I let out a sigh of relief when I noticed someone standing next to me.
I looked up and it was god Damien. And the way he was staring at me, it was weird, like a mixture of disappointment and relief.
He stared at me for a few more seconds, and then walked away. The party goers all realised the show was over and went back to whatever they were doing.
Caleb and I on the other hand, felt like shit.
'We can't ever do anything like this again Caleb.' I said to him.
He only nodded and I walked back into the kitchen.
I needed a lot more vodka if I was going to survive the rest of the night.
-----
I opened my eyes and shut them again. When the hell did it get so bright?
I slowly opened them this time and I realised where I was. In my room. Well that's something I definitely don't remember. Actually I don't remember anything after the argument I had with J.
I managed to heave my self out of my bed and man was I hungover.
I made it all the way to the bathroom and quickly shoved a few panadol to help ease the massive headache I had.
I made it down stairs to the kitchen and saw that my parents had left me a note.
'Hey chickens,
Dad and I are out for the day, we both know how hungover you two are, so we cooked you breakfast and its in the warmer. See you this afternoon.
Xx
Mum and Dad.'
After checking the fridge and grabbing the water jug, I looked in the oven and saw that mum had cooked us the biggest breakfast I have ever seen.
Breakfast sausages, hash browns, bacon, eggs, steak and chips.
'J, get your ass down here right now!!! Breakfast is here and if you want any of it you better be at the table in 10 seconds!'
I heard a loud thud and then I saw him sprint to the seat at the dining room table.
I laughed my head off and grabbed a fork for him and took the tray out of the oven and put it in the middle of the table.
I handed him his fork and he was into it right away. I grabbed the water jug and took the lid off.
I was just about to take a swig when J stole it off me and started chugging it down. (Yeah, we tend to turn into pigs when our rents aren't around.)
I scowled at him but then shrugged my shoulders and tucked into the bacon that was crispy and so oily and juicy... cooked to perfection! It's just what us hung over people need!
'Where's the tomato sauce?' my brother commented.
'Don't know don't care. I don't like tomato sauce on everything like you.'
I replied.
He got up and took it out of the fridge and then proceeded to pour it over nearly everything in sight, I only just managed to save a few things so I could still eat without puking up.
After ditching the forks and deciding our fingers would make the job a lot easier, both of us had eaten everything in the tray.
My stomach felt like it was going to burst.
I looked at the time and it was 2 in the afternoon.
Damn what time did we get home? 'Bro, do you remember anything from last night? Like how we got home?' I asked my brother.
He looked just as stuffed as I did. 'To be honest Ana, I don't remember anything after I got pissed at you.'
'Damn, I need to find my phone then. Who knows what happened after that little episode last night!' I said and looked at my brother.
He looked at me like he was apologising to me in his head.
'Don't even worry about it J. I seriously doubt it has even put a crack in our relationship or the one between you and Caleb.'
J slightly winced after hearing Caleb's name, but he nodded anyway.
'Ye I should find my phone too. Meet you back in here in an hour k? Make sure you've got lunch prepared by then.' J smiled at me and walked away.
'I'm not cooking you anything dickhead!' I yelled, 'and there's no more panadol!' I added in for good measure.
I heard another thump and him saying 'fuck!' and I couldn't help but giggle at my brother. Ha ha ha he has to endure it all now!
