I hadn’t thought much about Roman since the night at the bar. I had trashed his note the moment I was alone in my dorm room. He had a lot of nerve doing what he did but I shouldn’t have of doubted him. I should have been surprised he hadn’t snatched me away and cornered me.

However, for some reason the moment Livvy and I stepped into the crowded house and the familiar stench of spilt alcohol, sweat, weed and even sex, all the times during high school that I spent my weekends came to memory.

Music blasted through the speakers sending waves of vibration through the walls and floorboards of the enormous house. It was dark. The only light came from the flashing strobe lights that flashed silver along with red, blue, yellow, and purple.

Hundreds of people surrounded us all dressed in different costumes. The only way I could describe their costumes for the night was that their parents would be extremely embarrassed; hell I was embarrassed for them.

I was glad the costume Livvy had picked out wasn’t as revealing as the costumes that others wore. The only skin that I was showing where my arms and a bit of cleavage, hell, the slit up the skirt of my dress didn’t reveal as much as the others around me did.

“I’m going to go find Jessica!” Livvy yelled into my ear before she disappeared into the crowd.

“Great,” I mumbled as I pushed back a few strands of loose hair behind my ear, “And now I’m alone.”

I couldn’t find anyone I knew. I had tried texting Declan but my phone had died before I got the chance to press send. So without a phone to ask where they were, I was left to roam around the house in hope to find them. However, half an hour later, there still wasn’t any sign of Declan or Livvy.

The house was enormous and it was packed with so many people in costumes that others wore as well that everything blurred together. The flashing lights and loud music didn’t help any either. I was beginning to get a headache and my tongue was dry.

I needed something to drink- preferably water.

I entered the dimly lit kitchen. The music wasn’t as loud in here as it had been out in the entrance, living room, and hallway. A part of me hoped to find Declan, Livvy or anyone I knew in there but I didn’t.

                Instead I found Dylan.

“For fucks sake,” I groaned once my gaze met his. A smirk took over his lips and he set down the beer he had in his hand.

“Well what do you know,” he began, “Aspen Cartwright.”
