{thirty-two}

                After dinner, my mother retired to her room, which left me alone to clean up the kitchen. It wasn’t until the dishes were washed and the counter’s were wiped down that I noticed my phone’s LED light at the top corner of my phone had been blinking blue- a notification that I had a text message.

                Drawing in my password, I pulled down the notification screen and noticed the three unread text messages that I had from over an hour ago. One from Livvy, another from Declan, and the last from Roman.

                Blindly sitting on one of the bar stools behind the island counter, I clicked on Livvy’s text message.

                Missing my quiet room-mate already! My younger brother is SOOOO loud. >_> -Liv.

                I silently laughed and quickly typed a response, Missing my annoyingly loud dorm-mate. My house is so quiet- it’s unnerving. -Aspen.

                After I watched my message go through, I clicked on Declan’s.

                My flight has been delayed for a few hours. Have time for a quick phone call? I miss your voice already. -Declan.

                Slightly smiling and cringing at his cute text message. You’re so cheesy. It’s both cute and gross. -Aspen.

                After the text went through, I silently stared at my text messages and noted that Roman’s number was still bolded on my screen. After he had left I had deleted his number but although I had deleted his number off my phone, I still had his number memorized.

                “I need a drink,” I mumbled to myself as I slid off the stool and made my way towards the refrigerator. Grabbing a beer from the top shelf, I cracked it open and took a long sip. The cold liquid ran down my throat and I closed my eyes briefly before I reopened them and made my way towards the stool once again.

                On the counter, my phone laid unlocked, the text message screen still up and showing Roman’s familiar number. Taking another long sip, I exhaled deeply and clicked on his message.
