THE NIGHT THE DEAD STARTED WALKING

An Interesting Halloween

Merida-
I struggled to put on the itchy, tight and weird looking costume. This year I am dressing up as the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland for Halloween. I sat in front of my mirror to put on my Halloween makeup. I ended up looking like a phsyco. Great.
I walked out to the living room and waited for my friends, Jack, Rapunzel and Hiccup, to come pick me up. I knew we were too old to be trick or treating, but we've done this since we were 4. Jack,Hiccup and I were now 18. Rapunzel was 17, the youngest. It was practically a tradition now.
I heard a very loud honk right outside my house and jumped. I looked out the window and saw Rapunzel sticking her head out the car window laughing and waving towards me enthusiastically.
I giggled and started to walk outside.
"Finally!!" I shouted at them while I walked down the steps. They were suppose to be here an hour ago.
"Sorry Mer.. You know there's a lot of traffic on Halloween." Rapunzel said sweetly.
She was dressed as Emily from the Corpse Bride.
Her blond hair was now blue and wavy with a light blue flower crown placed neatly on her hair that ended right above her butt. Her olive green eyes shined in the moonlight and her silky dress complemented her now blue skin. She looked exactly like Emily (besides her green eyes)
Jack stuck his pale face out the window.
"Well, doesn't your hair look bigger than usual!" Jack smirked.
He stuck his face back in the window just in time to dodge my flying fists of furry.
He was dressed as Jack the skeleton from a Nightmare Before Christmas. Smart. Considering, he was as pale as snow. Jack had icy blue eyes and white hair (without the hair dye he used it's actually brown) and he had a perfect jaw line. In other words he was about movie star material that made all the girls in the school fall to their knees(i don't know why)Let me just say, even tho he's good looking he sucks at academic work. He was suppose to graduate last year.

After he dodged my fist he sank back in his seat laughing his butt off.
"Hey leave her alone!" Hiccup said from the drivers seat laughing. My cheeks instantly heated up. I could tell I was blushing because of the knowing smirk Punzel was giving me. I looked down and hid my face with my bouncy red curls.
I hopped in the car right beside Punzel. I put on my seat belt and got ready to go. Jack stuck his tongue out at me and I stuck it out right back.
"You look adorable clown," Hiccup remarked smirking at me through the rearview mirror.
My face heated up again.
" I'm the Mad Hatter!" I responded and sunk into my seat.
Rapunzel*
The ride was long and when I say long I mean really, really long. Hiccup, Jack and Merida kept arguing over the dumbest things like if waffles or pancakes were better. I grabbed at the car seat nervously I hated when they argued even when they were just messing around. Finally, we arrived at the block where they gave all the good candy. We always fill a garbage bag up when we go to this block then end up going to the dentist later. We all have good memories together. We grew up together and we'll stay together. As soon as Hiccup parked the car Merida and Jack sprinted out and raced towards the house. Merida reached the house first.
"Sucker!" She yelled at Jack as she did her happy dance. As soon as Mer rang the door bell,we knew our trick or treating had begun.

The night continued until 11:00. Even though many people weren't giving out candy anymore, we kept walking. I felt the cold air in my lungs and the soft breeze swept my face and kissed my nose. I knew I had to get home soon. I had a CNA test tomorrow. We were blocks away from the car and it was completely dark... Actually I think we weren't even in town anymore.. We were all walking back betting and trading candy when all of the sudden, we saw something. It was a figure that limped toward us. It was a person. Well.. It looked like one, but he looked hurt. I couldn't really see who it was.
"Are you ok?" I heard myself ask.
There was no answer, but the person kept coming closer.
Hiccup started walking toward him then froze. As soon as the person got close to where I could see the figure's face, I froze too.

It was an ugly creature. It's flesh was rotten away. It looked disgusting, infected... Sick.. And Hungry. I thought back to all the video games I have played. This.. Thing.. Looked exactly like some sort of zombie. It was growling loudly.
The figure's face was a little torn at the jaw. He appeared to have bullet holes around his chest. A screwdriver was sticking out of his shoulder and his eyes were completely white.
Merida immediatly flipped out her pocket knife. She never left the house without it. The creature came toward us and lifted his arms in order to grab me. He lunged at me. I dodged him, but he fell on top of Rapunzel.
She screamed and started to kick at it. Merida sprinted towards the creature and pulled it off of her. Jack tackled it down and Merida stabbed it in the eye until his head was adorned with dark gooey blood.
Jack~
I could not believe it. We just killed someone.. Or something. I turned and looked at Punzie. She was holding on to her side.
"Are you hurt?" I asked her putting my hand on her shoulder.
"I'm fine.. Just a little scratch" she responded.
I nodded.
In the distant I heard something. It sounded like the creature had. When I turned around I quickly wished I hadn't. There were many of those things making their way down the street. Even though it was dark and I could barley see, I knew it was more of those... Freaks. I could dimly hear screams and car horns. Guess hell started. We were still in town but in the not so populated part. Rapunzel was the first one that reacted. She pulled my shoulder. That's when I payed attention to my surroundings. Freaks were appearing around alleys and homes.
"Run!!" She yelled.
We all took off running father and farther away from our town and the life we knew.
