I remember once, I couldn't have been more than 4 years old, when Luna Catherine told me about the death of my parents for the first time. Our pack was constantly being attacked by the neighboring vampire clans and some of them had taken rouge wolves and turned them, creating a small army of them. She had said-
'They were fast and strong like the vampires, with an unquenchable thirst and a wolves temper and loyalty. The refused to bite the hand that fed them, even if it meant killing their own.'
When I heard the word 'hybrid' come out of his mouth, my first instinct was to clamp my hands over my ears and scream. After the war we had killed all of the remaing hybrids, this was impossible. It can't happen. It can't be happening.
"No," I said, pulling my hand from his and standing up so that I towered over him," No, no, no, no, no. Tell me this isn't true. Tell me this is some sick joke."
"It's not," he stood up as well and put his hands on my shoulders," Listen to me, okay?"
I thought about it for a moment before deciding that I deserve an explanation. I nodded my head rapidly.
"I wasn't turned, I was born like this. My father was a vampire, he impregnated my mother long before the war started," he glanced at the floor before adding," She died in childbirth. Before me, she had had three other children with her mate, before he had died and she met my father. Teresa, Thomas and Tahlia. We were raised by my grandmother, after my mother had died my father disappeared. I went to find him when I was 17, I haven't seen my siblings or grandmother since."
"Did you find him?"
"Yes," he nodded," That's why I was passing through your territory, I had just returned from meeting the bastard."
"I take it it didn't go well?"
"We're getting off topic," he looked up at me. His eyes had changed to a yellow color, abandoning all tracing of turquoise," I mean to say that yes, I am a hybrid, but I'm not like them. I didn't have the choice and I control it."
"Is that why your eyes change color," I reached up and touched the skin under his temple and next to his eye. He shut his eyes under my gentle touch, placing a hand over my hand before opening his eyes again. Turquoise.
"Yeah. I try to keep them from going like that, but so far," he pulled my hand to his lips and placed a soft kiss on it," You're the only cure."
My heart was about to beat out of my chest. My mate, a hybrid, my hybrid, Tyler has just bared his secret for me to see.
"That's why you left? You didn't want me to know?"
"No," he sighed and tilted his head so he stared at the ceiling," I left because I didn't want you to grow too attached to me. Mick, your brother and alpha already know what I am. I didn't want them to be the ones to tell you, so I came back and here I am."
"Here you are," I smiled at him before realizing something," Does this mean that you're leaving again?"
"I don't know," he took up both of my hands in his," Do you want me to leave? Are you okay with what I am?"
Am I okay with it?
Maybe not, but you wil be. You can't just let him leave.
I realized that I agree with my wolf, I won't let him leave again. It's just not happening.
"Stay," I wrapped my arms around his tourso and hugged him tight," I want you to stay."
He hugged me back and nuzzled his face into my neck. An action that now made me a little nervous with my newfound information, I jumped a bit.
"I want to stay," he pulled me away from him and took a step back," But not if I frighten you."
"No, don't leave. It's just gonna take a second to get used to it. I'll be okay, I promise."
He still looked a little if-y so I pulled him back onto the bed and sat with him.
"Talk with me?"
"What would we even talk about?"
"Ask me anything."
He smiled at me. We sat there all night asking questions and giving answers, some where simple and silly but others were bigger, we both avoided any questions about our parents. I did it so we wouldn't get to their deaths, and who killed them. It was almost 3 in the morning when we did finally fall asleep, my lullaby was the sound of his heart beating and the soft feeling of his hand carresing my back.

Tyler's POV
I don't know exactly what I was thinking when I came in that window, but I'm glad I thought it.
Nova not only accepted what I am, but also told me she wanted me to stay, yellow eyes and all. I was more than happy to stay up with her and listen to her stories and questions with that single candle still burning on the floor. Her sweet, melodic voice, the dim lighting on her hair made it appear golden, her eyes sparkled with excitement when ever she came across a particularly interesting part. I couldn't stop smiling.
Then when she fell asleep, I pulled her into a more comfortable position as I had the night I left, only this time I gave into temptation and took the place beside her and falling asleep for real for the first time in weeks.
The dim light of morning was barely enough to wake me the next morning. I opened my eyes and looked at the position I was in, well, we were in.
Nova's arm was wrapped around my waist and torso, her other was firmly planted on my heart. My arms both encasing her frame tightly to mine and both our sets of legs in a tangled mess. I smiled at our closeness and put my head in the crook of her neck, inhaling deeply the scent I had been deprived of with the exception of the shirt I had taken but that was hardly an antidote for my new found addiction.
I tried to undo our legs with out waking her, stopping every few moments to make sure I hadn't disturbed her. She frowned everytime I moved away from her, but I managed to get out and slide to the end of the bed.
I leaned against the bed frame, watching the peaceful expression on her face as she slept, her chest rising and falling with the movements of her breaths. For a while I considered waking her, but decided against it every time.
Who in their right of mind disturbes an angel?
In the end, it wasn't my decision whether or not to wake her. The person bursting through her bedroom door was more than enough for that.
Alright, alright. So it's no 12:01 a.m., but ,in my defense, I was lucky to make it past 9 last night. I. Was. Exhausted. You're lucky I even remembered at all.
Until next time.
(I'm still so damn tired)
