Twila's POV
"Are we there yet?" I asked Tita for what felt like the hundredth time. We'd been driving for almost six hours, and all I could see now were endless trees. I was starting to wonder if my future classmates were animals at this point.
"Almost." Tita Kaila said casually, earning a dramatic sigh from me. Ang sakit na ng pwet ko!
"Tita! You say that every time I ask you." I said pouting. Totoo! Siguro pang-treseng "almost" na 'yan. Nakakabagot na! Lahat ng playlist ko sa Spotify napakinggan ko na, boredom is literally eating me alive!
"We're almost there nga. Matulog ka ulit." Sabi ni tita Kaila. Matulog? Daig ko pang naka-apat na baso ng kape dahil gising na gising kaluluwa ko, ready to do something!
I threw my head back against the seat in frustration. "Tita, I've already napped! Like, several times, and we're still not there." I grumbled. I wasn't usually this impatient pero kasi 'di ko na download yung favorite playlist ko e, 'eto kasi si tita, masyadong nagmamadali, 'di tuloy na download.
"'Nako, malapit na nga. Paulit-ulit, Twila." Sabi ni Tita. Hindi ako marunong mag-antay! Char, just kidding. Marunong naman akong mag-antay— basta siya. Chos, 'kala mo naman may crush.
"Paulit-ulit ka din, you've said that a hundred times na. How far is this school, Tita? Baka nasa ibang bansa na tayo tita ha?" Tanong ko.
Tita laughed. "Nagpapatawa ka ba?" She teased. Nagpapatawa ba daw pero tumawa naman.
"Wow! Sayo pa talaga naggaling 'yan, ah." I said and chuckled. Siya kasi parating nagjojoke pero 'di naman nakakatawa. 'Pag nag comedian talaga 'to si tita siguradong lugi 'to.
"Tama na nga, malapit na tayo." I sighed in defeat. I turned my head to the window and furrowed my brows.
"Teka tita, kagubatan parin 'to ah?" Nagtataka kong tanong. Ang layo naman talaga ng paaralang 'to, hindi na talaga siya joke. May pasikot-sikot pa! Why did we have to come all the way here? I could've just gone to a school near our subdivision! This felt like such an unnecessary journey. May malapit na paaralan naman kasi doon, e. Ang OA talaga ni tita.
Tita just grinned mysteriously. "You'll see." She said as we drove deeper inside the forest. Jusko nakakatakot naman! The further we drove, the darker it became.
We eventually stopped in front of an impossibly large tree. I stared at it in awe, unable to process how something this massive could even exist. Sa pinakadulo nito ay isang cliff na may malawak na dagat sa baba. Siguro meters away lang ng kahoy ang cliff, tapos puro dagat na.
"So tita dito ako mag-aaral? Mga hayop ba talaga classmates ko?" I said jokingly. "Sabagay ma-aachieve parin natin ang goal na hindi ako ma-bully, sino ba namang mambubuyo saakin dito? Halaman?" Sarcastic kong sabi. 'Di naman niya ako sinagot kundi pumikit. So ganon nalang yun? Ipagdadasal niya nalang ba ako?
"Apperous Hagdanous." Tita muttered under her breath. Sus may pa bulong-bulong pa siya naririnig ko naman, tsk. Tsaka, anong gibberish pinagsasabi ni tita?
"Ano yun? Spell? Hogwarts lang?" I said joking, napatawa pa nga ako. Ewan ko nalang talaga, wala na ata kami sa tamang pag-iisip.
Suddenly, the huge tree disappeared, and napalitan ito ng isang mahabang staircase stretched up into the sky. I blinked several times, rubbing my eyes to make sure I wasn't imagining it.
"W-what just happened?!" I nearly shouted, turning to Tita in shock. My brain was struggling to catch up. With my mouth wide open I walked towards the staircase. Kinapa-kapa ko pa ang hagdanan and napag-tanto ko na totoong hagdanan nga.
