The layers of the skirt of my dress billowed around me as I twirled around the empty ballroom. I held my arms out to my sides, giving me the impression that if I twirled fast enough, I would be able to fly.
Suddenly, I was in someone's arms. The mystery guy expertly glided me across the floor in his embrace. The twinkling of classical music swelled as we whirled and danced faster and faster.
After he twirled me another time, he grabbed my waist, lifting me into the air. My hands rested on his shoulders as I smiled down at him. He lowered me slowly, it was an intimate action, and by the time my feet were firmly back on the ground my heart was hammering against my rib cage.
With his hands still on my waist, he pulled me against his chest. I stared up into his face; a black mask covered the top half of his face. All I could see were piercing blue eyes. His eyes were like a magnet drawing me closer to him. Our noses brushed against each other in a slow fumbling moment. I could feel his breath on my lips. Our lips were barely a fraction of a centimeter away-
I woke up to the dull drone of my alarm clock. I slapped my beside table over repeatedly until my hand found my alarm clock and turned it off. I groaned into my pillow and reluctantly got out of bed. Half awake, I made my way to my bathroom to get ready for another day of school. The mystery guy still danced through my thoughts.
After I got dressed into my school uniform, brushed my teeth, and put my hair into a ponytail, I went downstairs to eat some breakfast. Once I got into the kitchen my nose was greeted by the intoxicating smell of blueberry pancakes.
"Mmmm." I sighed.
Food, my one and only love!
"Good morning, Miss Woods." Christin, our housekeeper, greeted me.
"Good morning, Christin. These pancakes look delicious!"
There was a tower of the little darlings on a plate in the middle of the kitchen table. I was practically drooling at the sight!
"Dig in." Christin laughed at me.
I took my seat at the table across from my mother. She was busy talking to someone on her cell phone, so was my father who was sitting next to her. My dad started yelling into his phone while I piled two pancakes on my plate- I was use to this. As I was taking the last bite of my pancakes, I heard my brother walk into the room.
"Yes! Pancake day!" He took the seat next to me and put five pancakes on his plate. I laughed at his clear giddiness. "Hey, pipsqueak, you need me to give you a ride today?" Tyler asked through a mouth full of pancake.
"No. Ben is coming to get me. His car is finally out of the shop, so you don't have to drive me around anymore."
Ben is my best (and only) friend. For the past few weeks Tyler has had to take me to school because Ben claimed that the deer hit him- not the other way around. But now his car is back in pristine condition.
"Okay, cool." He said while he continued to eat.
He was down to half a pancake before I even started to reach for my orange juice. Wow, that boy eats fast!
I heard my phone ding, and I pulled it out of the waist band of my skirt.
Outside.
