"You know at some point you will have to let me go, right?"

I was currently curled up on Axel's lap; his arms were wrapped around me in a protective cage. I tilted my head back to look at him. Ever since we proclaimed our love for each other a couple hours ago, he hadn't let me go once. He pouted before nuzzling his face in the side of my neck.

"Ten more minutes." He mumbled against my skin, and started to leave a trail of kisses up my neck.

  "Axel!" I laughed.

I felt him smile, but he didn't stop. His teeth grazed my earlobe, and I felt my heartbeat rising in pace. Apparently so did the monitor that was keeping track of my vitals, because it starting beeping wildly in time with my heart. Axel pulled away, looking concerned for a minute before he smirked at me.

"I'm glad I still have that effect on you, Angel Eyes."

I could tell he was trying his best not to laugh as I glared at him through my blush. I opened my mouth to tell him my not so ladylike opinion about his effect on me when a woman in scrubs darted into my hospital room.

"Is very thing okay?" Her face showed lines of worry, and she rushed over to my monitor. "My beeper went off; was there a sudden spike in your vitals?"

"Uh- yes- b-but I-I'm okay." I stammered, embarrassed.

Axel couldn't contain himself any longer and bursted out laughing. I shook from where I was laying on top of him.

"Jerk," I muttered, slapping his chest and moving off of his lap.

"Aw, Angel Eyes, don't be like that." He pulled me closer to him, placing a kiss on my cheek.

I rolled my eyes, but I snuggled closer to his side.

"You two are adorable." The nurse smiled at us. She started to walk out of the room after making sure my vitals where okay, but she turned around. "I almost forgot, your parents are here. I can send them in now if you're ready to see them."

I was shocked to hear that my parents where here. Of course they're here! I'm their daughter, I told myself.

  "Yes, please."

I was smiling but as soon as she closed the door behind her, I gnawed on my bottom lip. I was anxious to see them- what would their reaction be? I looked up when Axel started drawing soothing circles on my arms to calm me.

"Everything will be okay. I'll be right here if you need me, okay?"

I nodded and gave him a peck on the lips as a 'thank you'. He placed a kiss on top of my head; I smiled even though he couldn't see my face. For someone who was an expert at irritating me, he always knew just how to make me feel better.

The door to my room creeped open, and my father rushed to my side. He seemed to ignore Axel sitting beside of me on the bed; he smoothed my hair back.

"Oh, sweetheart. How are you feeling?"

"I-I'm okay." I was taken aback by the affectionate gesture.

My mother stopped at the foot of my bed. Her face looked strained- as if she couldn't decide if she should say something or not. Her eyes flicked to Axel now and again with a look of distaste.

Finally she spoke, "Honey, why did you keep this a secret? Don't you realize how reckless that was?!" She sounded angry and hurt.

  "I know, I should've said something. I'm sorry."

"Well all that matters now is that you start getting better." My dad grabbed my hand and gave it a squeeze.

"Yes. We were talking to Dr. Jackson out in the hall, and he-"
