The feeling of the wind whipping around me was intoxicating, and I loved how it felt like everything around me was too slow to catch me. No wonder Axel bought a motorcycle instead of a fancy sports car. I'm sure a sports car could go as fast if not faster, but there was a feeling of danger induced adrenaline from the lack of security that you couldn't get riding in any Mercedes or Mustang.
I squealed a little as he sped up slightly, and I wrapped my arms around him a little tighter. I pressed my face into his leather clad back with a smile. I couldn't hear because of the wind roaring in my ears, but I could feel him chuckle under my embrace.
I lifted my head up to see a stoplight not too far ahead. Axel approached as soon as it turned red and stopped.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Burger King. Dealing with a incredibly beautiful, yet incredibly irritating girl can really make a guy hungry."
Was that a compliment or an insult?
"Burger what?"
"Please tell me you're joking! You've never ate at Burger King?!" Axel said like I was the most deprived person in the world.
"I don't get out much."
"Things are about to change for you, Angel Eyes." I could hear the smirk in his voice.
Things already have, I thought as the light turned green and we took off down the road again.
When we reached Burger King's parking lot, I let go of Axel and hopped off of the bike. I tried to take off his helmet, but I had a hard time unbuckling the strap. Axel saw me struggling and he rolled his eyes. He walked up to me and tried to unbuckle it.
There was only an inch in between us, and I tried not to squirm at our closeness. He was completely focused on the task at hand, me on the other hand was studying his face. There were soft shadows under his cheekbones, his blue eyes were as steady as a river, and his lips... Stop that!
After what seemed like a century he finally got the strap undone. He took the helmet off for me, and brushed some hair behind my ear.
"That strap's a little tricky." He whispered in my ear.
"I noticed. Come on, I'm hungry." I said, making an excuse to put some space in between us before I did something I regret.
Once inside, we walked up to the counter and the cashier greeted us.
"Welcome to Burger King, what can I get for you today?" He asked me.
"Umm..." I looked at the menu boards with confusion. "What do you suggest?" I asked Axel.
"She'll have a number 5 and I'll have the same thing with extra pickles. And I need a Pepsi and a..." He turned to me.
"A Pepsi as well." I smiled at the cashier and he blushed.
I saw Axel roll his eyes as he handed the cashier the money. He handed Axel two cups, and Axel went to get the drinks while I waited for the food.
"Hi, I'm Eric." The cashier smiled at me after a few moments of awkward silence.
"Hi, I'm-"
"With me." Axel cut in, glaring at Eric.
Eric quickly looked away and started messing with his register. When the food was done we found a booth in the corner.
"Was that really necessary?" I bristled.
"I don't know what you mean?" He cocked his head to the side making him look like a puppy.
