After I had to literally drag Ben by the collar of his shirt away from my dad's car, I could feel everyone staring and whispering as we walked by.
"Is that Tyler's little sister?"
"No. It can't be, can it?"
"Did you see the car she was driving?"
I smirked as I dragged Ben to my locker with me. Looks like my entrance had created some buzz in Alex Prep. I threw my bag in my locker and closed it.
Ben stood there rubbing his neck. "First, ow! Second, you kinda need your books for class, Becca."
"I think I'll manage."
"Okay. What's up with you?" His hazel eyes shone with worry and something else I couldn't pin down.
"I'm just trying to make a statement, Ben." I said.
"And what exactly would this statement be, hmmm?" He crossed his arms.
"That Rebecca Woods is not going to sit on the sidelines anymore. I'm not going to be forgotten." I replied determinedly.
When I got home last night, I walked past the bookcase full of Tyler's trophies and medals. I think on that whole bookcase there was maybe one out of all of the many that was one of my awards. I don't get a lot because I'm not the athletic type. I'm the 'eat pizza, study, and read books' type. But as I had walked past it, I thought about how I had nothing to show for myself.
I was a little hesitant after I bought all of that stuff at the mall, but that trophy case sent me over the edge. I wasn't about to leave this world with almost everyone knowing me as 'Tyler Woods little sister.' I wanted them to remember my name; I wanted them to remember me.
"I would never forget you." Ben placed a hand on my shoulder.
I smiled at him. "Thanks, Benny. I'll never forget you either."
He opened his mouth to say something, but the warning bell rang signaling that we had about a minute to get to class.
"We should go." Ben said a little irritated.
"Yeah." I nodded my head.
We made our way towards history class, and I plopped down in my seat. I got out my phone and started to go on Pinterest.
"What are you doing?!" Ben hissed. "If you get caught, you'll get detention!"
"So?" I said not looking up from my phone.
"So?!" I glanced away from my phone to see Ben's eyes were huge and filled with astonishment.
"Take a chill pill. Mrs. Day isn't even in here yet." He just kept looking at me like I had grown a second head. "Fine." I turned my phone off and put it in my lap. "Better?"
He shook his head at me and looked up at the chalkboard. Soon Axel West strut into the classroom. Sam, the boy that sits on the other side of me, immediately got up from his seat when he saw Axel walking towards us. Axel sat down with a smirk.
"Well, well, well. I guess you're not as angelic as I thought you were, Angel Eyes."
"You have no idea." I smirked back.
He licked his lips, and not at all subtly checked me out. A part of me was kinda intrigued, but then my brain took control and told my hormones to shut up. He was still Axel West, the annoying pain in my side.
"What do you want, West?" I raised an eyebrow at him before I examined my nails.
"I thought we've been through this before, Angel Eyes." He leaned in closer to me; he was so close I caught a whiff of cinnamon and vanilla. His lips were practically brushing against my ear. "I want you. And I know you want me too."
