X Axel's POV on Ch. 1 & 2 X
I stared up at my ceiling in the darkness. I checked the time on my phone and sighed when the screen read 4:00 am, and then I turned my head to glance at the sleeping girl next to me in my bed. We had been texting a couple of hours earlier, and on an impulse, I had told her to come over. I had fought with Robert again after dinner and I really just needed a way to let out my frustrations: hence the girl passed out on my- now slightly numb- arm.
I pulled my arm out from under her head and shook it out a little. She was still asleep. I sighed deeply again. I hadn't expected her to stay this long; I was hoping she'd sneak out after we were done. And I really needed to wake her up so I could at least get a few hours of sleep before I had to leave for school, but I couldn't remember her name.
I'm pretty sure it starts with a 'J'. Jasmine? Julia? Jennifer?
I shrugged, deciding it didn't really matter- I wouldn't be seeing her again anyway. I grabbed her shoulder gently and shook her awake.
"Hey, Jennifer." I said. "Wake up. You fell asleep."
She sat up a little, clutching one of my sheets to her bare chest, and wore a look of mingled hurt, disbelief, and disgust. "My name's Jessica."
"Yeah, whatever. You really need to leave. It's-" I checked the time on my phone again. "Four fifteen."
"Oh my God!" She shot up from the bed and began to quickly go around my room, picking up her clothes and putting them back on. "My mom is going to kill me if she finds out that I snuck out." She whined as she was shimming into her jeans.
"We wouldn't want that," I said only being slightly sarcastic.
She rolled her eyes at me while she was slipping on her shoes, but even in the darkness I could tell she was blushing. After she was done, she sat down on my bed close to me and gave me a flirty smile.
"Tonight was amazing. We should do it again another time and then maybe we can go out for some food after?" She bit her lip, looking hopeful.
"I don't think you understand what this was." I gestured to us and the bed.
"I don't understand what?"
"This was just a one-time thing. No strings attached. I thought that I had made myself pretty clear with the texts before you came." I said slowly, so it would sink in better.
"But I thought- you said-"
"I said that this was a one-time thing." I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Yeah, but I thought you might change your mind after... you know." She looked at me with distraught eyes.
"Look, sweetheart, I made my intentions pretty clear. I'm sorry if you thought things would be different, but they're not."
Her jaw dropped at my brutal honesty, but she clenched it shut, angry tears were burning in her bright eyes. She hopped off my bed as if it had burned her. And picking up a discarded pillow from the floor, she chucked it at my chest.
"You're despicable, Axel West!" She stalked out the room, slamming the door shut behind her.
Why does every girl think they can change me?, I thought in exasperation. They all must be reading some very unrealistic romance novels to think that I could ever be changed.
