"What was that all about?" Jake asked me.
"Just West being a pain. It's fine; you're here now." I moved closer to him.
Jake was wearing a blue T-shirt and jeans. He styled his blonde hair and he smelt like lemons. He was strong and warm and sweet.
"Hey, I brought you back a Coke." Ben said, reaching me the Coke can.
Jake tensed next to me, and I saw his smile falter for a second. "Who's this?"
"Jake, this is my best friend Ben. Ben, this is Jake." I gave out introductions.
Jake relaxed and his smile was back. "Nice to meet you, Ben."
"You too." Ben nodded his head. "Great party."
"Thanks." Jake said. "What about you, do you like the party?" Jake asked me.
"Definitely." I beamed.
"You want to go dance?" Ben asked me.
"Sure." I sat my drink down. "I'll see you later?" I asked Jake.
"Most definitely. Save me a dance." He winked, causing me to blush.
Ben grabbed my hand and took me into the living room. Even though the room was huge, there was barely any room to move because the place was packed with dancing bodies. There was girls grinding on guys, guys trying to show off their dance moves and... a goat?
The bass of the music was humming through my bones. I started to sway a little to the music and halfway through I bounced on the balls of my feet while shaking my head. Ben twirled me causing me to bump right into him, and we both died laughing when he caught me.
"You haven't even had anything to drink." He said, but I couldn't hear him.
"What?!" I yelled.
"I said-" Ben started again, but Jake interrupted.
"You mind if I cut in?" He asked Ben.
Ben looked a little annoyed but he said, "No, I was getting hungry again anyway. I'll catch up with you later, Becca."
A new song came on, and me and Jake both started to dance. The room was kinda dim, but I could still make out his smiling face. I threw my hands up in the air, and I just let the music guide my body. Jake got closer and put a hand on my waist as we swayed. His touch set me on fire. He started to lean his face towards my ear.
"I didn't get to mention earlier, but that's a beautiful dress." He smirked as he pulled away.
"I'm glad you like it."
I was staring to get tired in the beginning of the third song we danced to. He must of sensed something was up, and he asked if I wanted to go back to the kitchen to get a drink. When we got into the kitchen, I had to squeeze in between the counter and a couple making out against the fridge to get to the drinks. I looked around for Ben, but he was no where in sight. I poured myself a Coke into a plastic cup with some rum.
I had never drank alcohol before, but the rum didn't overpower the Coke too much. Jake grabbed a beer.
"Are you having a good time?" He asked, sounding hopeful.
"Yeah. I don't really go to parties, but yours is growing on me." I smiled as I brought the cup to my lips.
"I throw a lot of parties. My parents are always out of town on business."
