I hope you guys don't mind that I've been posting a lot this weekend. Basically, I have nothing better to do and this is fun. Enjoy!
Chapter Inspiration:
- Cold As You ~ Taylor Swift
- Show Me What I'm Looking For ~ Carolina Liar
I gasped quietly and ran a hand through my hair. I wanted to scream, cry, something that would get rid of all this tension I was feeling. What was I even doing before? Crazily, Hermione walked into the room and watched my awed expression.
"Laurel...?" I stared at her, about to cry. Fifteen years it's been since I've seen her or anyone. I backed up against the bedpost. Narnia. They had no ruler and one of the people left in charge was gone, too. I felt guilty and was so wrapped up in my thoughts, Hermione had to shake my shoulder to get me to listen to her.
"C'mon. The train's here." I furrowed my brow. "Train...?" It came back to me a few seconds later. "OH! A train." They were those boxes on wheels. As we passed the door, I looked in the mirror and gaped. I had forgotten what sixteen year-old me looked like.
As we walked down the steps, I asked, "What is the date?" Hermione now looked seriously worried. "Laurel, it's June 10th. Are you feeling alright?" I nodded and almost ran into the wall. Hermione expressions worried me, but she said nothing as she guided me into the common room.
I saw Eva and ran forward, engulfing her in a bear hug. "I've missed you so much." I told her. She gave me an odd look, but hugged back. "Something's wrong. She's acting like she hasn't been here ever." I heard Hermione whisper to someone.
When I turned around, I saw Harry and Ron standing next to Hermione. Harry and I locked eyes. More than anything, I wanted to run and hug him, but memories flooded back. Ones reminding me that he was leaving me behind to find Horcruxes.
My jaw clenched and I turned back to Eva. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see a look of pain on his face. I sat down on a couch and looked around the room. This place, a place that was home for five years, now felt alien.
I guess being in another castle for fifteen years makes this one feel strange. Just as Eva and I started chatting, Hermione interrupted, telling us that it was time to board the train. As I walked through the corridors, I looked around, refreshing my memory.
Although the pang of being away from Narnia hurt badly, I was happy to see everyone again. As I sat down with Hermione, Ron, and Harry, I couldn't help but realize how much I missed human companionship.
I've been avoiding or shutting out a lot of people. Well...they weren't all people... I cleared my throat and watched my squirmy friends. "What?" I asked exasperated. Hermione flinched and shook her head. "Nothing." I gave her a look and crossed my arms.
She sighed and looked at Harry, who was apparently going to do the talking. "Are you feeling alright? And I mean really." I hesitated. It was obvious that I couldn't tell them, but I couldn't help but feel irritated. I had to hide everything big about myself from people I really cared about.
The Wizarding World from the Pevensies and Pevensies and Narnia from the Wizarding World. I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. "Laurel...?" Ron asked, concerned. I looked up, trying to think how I was going to phrase this.
"I feel fine, it's just...have you ever been so sucked into a daydream that when you come out that you feel like you don't know the world?" All three of them shook their heads. "Never mind." I watched the fields that we were passing by, feeling a twinge of homesick. Those fields reminded me of some we had in Narnia. This was going to take some getting used to.

Harry, Eva, and I stood in front of our empty house. I handed Eva the key and watched as she unlocked it. When we walked in, I smiled. This was one home of many. Harry set some of his things down and went up to the table of photographs.
Most of them were of family. "You'll be in there soon." I told him softly. He flinched at my tone of voice and turned. I gave him a small smile and pointed to the staircase. "Let me show you where your bedroom is." He followed me as we made our way up the carpeted stairs.
I smiled at the closed door that belonged to me. It was the closest to the stairs and farthest from everyone else's. Eva's was right around the corner along with my parents' and now Harry's. I opened the door and turned on the light.
He smiled and placed a bag down on the bed. "This is twice the size of my old one." he breathed. I leaned against the furnished door and studied his happy face. "We'll have everything ready in a few weeks. I'm afraid until then you'll be with the Dursleys. Anyway, you'll have to be there for the plan to work."
He nodded and stared out the window, displaying the backyard. "If you need anything I'm right around the corner or Eva's right across." I told him walking out the door. Harry grabbed my arm and pulled me back in the room.
"I'm really sorry Laure. I just want you two to be safe." I sighed and nodded. "I know Harry. I'm just worried for you. We have no idea where you'll be led to. And did Dumbledore even tell you how to destroy one?"
He winced and shook his head. "Yeah, still figuring that out." I crossed my arms. "When are you planning to leave anyway?" He thought for a moment before saying, "Some time after the plan and after my birthday."
I smiled and leaned against the door. "I can't believe you're going to seventeen." He chuckled and started to put stuff in his wardrobe. The ache in my chest became more noticeable. "Yeah. We're getting old." I stiffened at his words, thinking how I was thirty-one the last time I saw Peter, Susan, Lucy, and Edmund.
He noticed and gave me a look. "You're acting extremely strange. Tell me what happened." I shook my head. "I was told I couldn't tell you. Besides, you'd think I'm mental even if I did tell you." He scowled deeply. "Stranger than being a wizard?"
I nodded violently. Harry studied my face before going back to folding. "I'll see you later." I told him quietly. Shutting the door behind me, I ran to my room and slapped the door shut. Just as I did, I started to sob, sinking down against the door.
I missed the Pevensies. Even when I stayed away, they always found some sort of way to talk to me. I missed Narnia and the Narnians. They were so kind and friendly, something I needed to experience on a daily basis. I missed the swordfighting and combat. It was such a rush and something I loved, I had began to think that Fortis was a part of my body.
I heard a knock on the door, but ignored it. I bit my lip to stop the fresh sobs, but tears still drenched my face. "Laurel? Are you alright?" Eva called quietly through the wood. "WHY DOES EVERYONE KEEP ASKING?! I AM FINE." I shouted.
"What's going on?" I heard Harry ask her. She mumbled something incoherently and Harry sighed. "Laurel open up." I realized he was going to try and get in and quickly put a force field over it. I heard the door trying to open, but it was stuck thanks to the force field.
"Dammit. You put a force field around the door, didn't you?" Harry muttered. Tears streamed down my face as I thought of when Peter came looking for me the night of the coronation. Peter. There was no denying it now.
I, Laurel Marie Collins, was in love with Peter Pevensie.
